Squid Game 2 Cast Update: Leading Women Names Revealed? Here’s Who Will Join the All-Men Lineup So Far

On June 17, Netflix’s TUDUM 2023 event unfolded and kicked off sundry announcements for new and old titles of the platform. One of those intimations was also about the trailblazing Korean dystopian series that took the world by storm in 201, and now a week later, we have yet another Squid Game 2 cast update that marks the coming in on of a women’s lineup to the long list of male actors that had been initially listed as par of the global fan event.

With the show in production and will scheduled to start filming in July 2023, with its premiere slated for sometime next year, the previously announced cast members included the Prime-time Emmy Award winner Lee Jung-jan reprising his titular role as Seong Gi-hun, in addition to Lee Byung-hun coming back as the black-hooded front man and Wi Ha-jun returning as the detective we all rooted for, Hwang Jun-ho.

Except the ones reprising their former posts, the update also announced the incoming new players’ name for Season 2. Celebrating a stellar group of individuals, the newcomers include Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, with of course, our beloved mysterious recruiter played by Gong Yoo taking the helm again.

As soon as the news was out, while may grew ecstatic to hear the new names taking over the sequel, others were equally irked by the missing Squid Game 2 female cast. In Season 1, we saw Jung Ho-yeon lead as Kang Sae-byeok along with Kim Joo-ryoung as Han Mi-nyeo, with Lee yoo-mi also stealing the spotlight as Ji-yeong, one of the recurring characters on the show. However, the second instalment seemed to have taken a step back there, and the old fans of the global phenomenon didn’t take it lightly, leaving them to fume at the omission and unhappy with the decision.
