Positively Yours Episode 9 Review

The episode opens with Doo-joon publicly admitting that he is in love with Hee-won. His confession is direct, and it leaves no room for doubt for anyone. After the press conference, Min-wook steps away from the love rivalry. He chooses maturity, and instead of holding on to his feelings, he openly supports Doo-joon and encourages him to take proper care of Hee-won. His decision removes any ongoing tension between the two guys and brings a sense of closure to the love triangle. The bold love declaration also shifts public opinion of Do-joon. The criticism surrounding Doo-joon begins to fade, and people start to see him as a genuine lover.

His image improves significantly, both professionally and personally, increasing the company’s stock as well. Even his father gives his approval, accepting his love without hesitation. Despite all this progress, Jeong-eum is far from pleased. She decides to humiliate Doo-joon in public and deliberately targets his anxiety to break him down. Meanwhile, things are going well for Hee-won at work. She begins developing her non-alcoholic beer product, and the project moves forward smoothly. Soon, the day arrives for Hee-won to meet her future in-laws, and the meeting goes surprisingly well. Later, Doo-joon speaks privately with Hee-won’s mother and promises that he will always take care of her daughter.

Jeong-eum finally makes her move, as she confronts Doo-joon head-on. She is still hung over her husband’s death, and blames Do-joon for that. Thus, she says everything she can to shake him and targets his insecurities. Later, she also humiliates Hee-won in front of everyone, but he does not break. Her attack only strengthens his determination to protect Hee-won. Sadly, the drug scandal explodes, and it becomes a serious threat to Do-joon’s career and reputation.

Still, the pressure begins to take a visible toll on Doo-joon. The constant scrutiny and scandal start to weigh on him more than he lets on. He tries to handle it quietly, but Hee-won can see that he is struggling. Refusing to let him carry everything alone, she takes him to a group therapy session, which is a safe space where people can openly talk about their past without fear of judgment or cameras. During the session, Hee-won shares her own painful history, especially the complicated relationship she has with her mother. Her honesty in that moment reminds Doo-joon that real strength does not come from suppressing pain.

Later, Hee-won wins the award for most innovative product for developing the beer. It should have been a moment of pure celebration, but instead, Jeong-eum interrupts and claims that Hee-won’s victory is the result of her relationship with Doo-joon rather than her own merit. The accusation shocks everyone and quickly turns the atmosphere tense.

I liked today’s episode because it felt more dynamic, especially with all the challenges Doo-joon and Hee-won are dealing with. The tension adds movement to the story and keeps things engaging.

At the same time, none of these developments is particularly surprising. The plot follows a familiar path, one that goes through a well-known dramatic road. Still, that doesn’t necessarily take away from the experience.
