Three Friends and Hidden Feelings Make This K-Drama Stand Out
The story essentially revolves around three characters, with Woo-jae, the male protagonist, playing a crucial role in the relationship between them. The relationship involves Ha-na, her twin brother, Ha-ru and Woo-jae, who is their common friend. The bond between these 3 is very strong, and from the beginning we get to realise how much they love and respect each other. There is a hint of romantic interest between Woo-jae and Ha-na, but it is apparent that both of them hide it very well from the other.
These three have been friends ever since they were in school, and even as young adults, they are still in touch. Ha-na becomes a very famous actress, and Woo-jae becomes her bodyguard. On the other hand, Ha-ru becomes a huge judo athlete who even wins medals for his country. Though they all have their own problems, things were fairly well between them.
Ha-na’s Acting Career Takes a Hit as She Battles Her Own Emotions
The core conflict of this episode was the fact that Ha-na struggled with her emotions. She suffered from a disorder that made it impossible for her to showcase correct emotions at the right moment. This obviously affected her acting career as well because she would have to fake emotions on screen. Thus, in her career, she starts to face a setback, and much of the episode explores that idea. Thankfully, Woo-jae was there to assist her, which is why she manages to somehow live with her problems even with all the issues.
Woo-jae Stands by Ha-na Through Everything
Woo-jae definitely acts as a pillar of support for her in these moments because he’s the one who stands by her without complaint and protects her all the time. One does get a sense that he might be genuinely in love with her but is unable to confess precisely because of his position as her bodyguard. Ha-na also values him a lot, and even though she becomes angry at him at one point, she realises that he just wanted the best for her.
A Mysterious Stalker Takes Ha-na’s Life in a Terrifying Direction
The episode also throws in the angle of a dangerous stalker who is there to mess with the life of Ha-na and anyone surrounding her. This mystery guy is the one who creates the biggest impact in the story by doing something that was highly unconventional. He must have had some sort of grudge towards Ha-na because he starts to target her mercilessly by scaring her with creepy dolls and harassment inducing articles. Even with every precaution, no one manages to get a hold of this person.
Final Thoughts
I was honestly impressed by how well the ending twist was handled. I did not expect the story to take such an unexpected direction, especially with the siblings. On top of that, the series introduces a transmigration storyline with a body swap thrown into the mix, making the concept even more out-of-the-box.
The combination felt unique and refreshing to me. At a time when many K-dramas tend to rely on cliched love story formulas, this stood out for showing something different. I genuinely enjoyed watching it and would definitely recommend giving it a try.
