Phantom Lawyer Episode 15 Review

What happens to Ki-joong after Yi-rang tells him about his past?
Ki-joong begins to remember everything, including his family members. He becomes especially emotional with the thought of seeing his wife and daughter again. He meets his wife and sees her working as a butcher. There comes a time when it almost feels like she could see him as well. Ki-joong also notices his daughter and his granddaughter, and this becomes a very sad but beautiful moment for him.
What does Yi-rang say to his father?
Yi-rang tells his father that the reason he made Ki-joong remember himself is that he wants to hear his side of the story. He believes that there must be something more than what everyone else is saying about Ki-joong, and Yi-rang decided to act on that gut feeling. His father also agrees to reveal everything to him.

What was Ki-joong’s secret?
Ki-joong reveals that he took on Yoon’s case and first dismissed every complaint against him because he found out that he was not a culprit. However, later, various complaints from students’ parents and his colleagues began to come to the lawyer. When Ki-joong began one-on-one interviews with the people who made the complaints, they began saying numerous things about Yoon. He had to begin an investigation, but concluded that Yoon was innocent.
Ki-joong advised Yoon to sort this out with the students whom he had suspended. While visiting them, Yoon discovered that a prosecutor was involved with those students’ parents. Yoon then recorded their conversation on a recorder and let Ki-joong know about it. Needless to say, after that, both of them died.
Is Byung-Il the main villain?

Do-kyung finally went to his father to ask why he’s obsessed with Yi-rang’s father, who died years ago. His father then reveals that he’s the prosecutor about whom Yoon was talking. He is also the one who wanted the recorder for himself and had both Yoon and Ki-joong dead. Now he fears the existence of that recorder and does not want Yi-reng to get his hands on the device. However, in an attempt to manipulate his own son, Byung-Il lies that he had no idea who killed Yoon or Ki-joong. Do-kyung foolishly believes his words and decides to protect his father at all costs.
What was Na-hyun’s role in this episode?
Na-hyun came later in the episode, but had a very important role here. First of all, she gets warned by Do-kyung, who tells her to back off from the case. Then she later meets Ki-joong and even has a productive chat with him.
What happens in the end?
Many people come to get the voice recorder, and a massive fight breaks out. This is where Ki-joong takes over Yi-rang’s and beats all the gangsters.

What worked and what did not work?
This was a nice episode that had plenty of emotional moments between Ki-joong and Yi-rang. Here, Yi-rang gets the chance to heal his childhood trauma and bond with his father.
However, this episode had nothing that we did not expect. Plus, the pace could have been tightened, as it felt too slow. All in all, it was a decent watch.
