One of Is Lying Season 1 Recap

Everything in the show began with the death of Simon Kelleher, aka the mayor’s son who was involved in a so-called whistleblowing app. The hacking genius died after none of the fellow detained students could find his medication pens.

Initially, all the students are relieved of any suspicion because of the clear circumstances surrounding the death of Simon. However, when the detective gets involved with the case, they soon classify it as a homicide.

Bronwyn, Addy, Cooper and Nate get an episode each, which finds a possible motive from their past, that may have led them to the murder of the hacking genius. However, it is soon cleared that none of the murder bunch members was responsible for the crime. And they just need enough evidence to prove their collective innocence.

The series takes a sharp turn in unravelling the mystery behind the murder, which leads them to Addy’s boyfriend Jake. Through past references, we get to know that ever since Addy’s cheating incident, Jake was fueled with revenge, and took the help of Simon to perform a practical joke.

Jake was responsible was getting the medication pen and saving Simon’s life. However, the sophomore backed out at the last time, removed the trace of his involvement and shifted the blame on Nate. Finally, when Jake gets confronted by the alleged murder bunch, he takes out his gun to protect the secret of Simon’s murder. Moreover, during the tussle, Jake gets shot with his own gun and ends up dying in the forest.

In the climax, we can see all four high schoolers ignoring each other after the incident. It is also revealed that Jake was finally pinned with the murder of Simon, but wasn’t found anywhere. The series also ends on a cliffhanger, where secret identity messages them to do as exactly told.
