Neymar Ending Explained: Disney+ Hotstar’s new Malayalam family-comedy movie stars Mathew Thomas as Kunjava, Naslen K Gafoor as Kunjava’s best friend Sinto, Shammi Thilakan as Kunjava’s father Sahadevan, Vijayaraghavan as Sinto’s father Chackola, and Yog Japee as Gabri.
Despite being stretched and predictable, the movie is a smooth ride, thanks to the dog Neymar himself. Credit also goes to debutant director Sudhi Maddison for capturing the dog’s expressions and motivations in an apt manner and leaving us rooting for him and his adventures!
Neymar Synopsis
To impress a girl that Kunjava likes, Sinto suggests that he bring home a dog. After much persuasion, Kunjava’s mother allows him to bring home an indie whose name is, as you may have guessed by now, Neymar. But the dog’s naughtiness makes Sahadevan get rid of him by packing and sending him off to Pondicherry.
Kunjava and Sinto sneak out one night and head to Pondicherry to look for the canine, only to find out that he is now with Gabri, a ganglord of sorts. The guy is training him for the upcoming Charles Moratt dog competition. How the two young boys help Neymar get back home is what follows.

Neymar Ending Explained
Who is Venkit?
A former partner of Gabri, Venkit cheated Gabri in the Charles Moratt competition and became the new Champion. Gabri also lost his champion dog Sultan to a bet that Venkit himself had incited him to put. Later on, he turned on Gabri by speaking about how what Gabri had done, by betting on his dog, was against the customs and got Gabri banned from taking part in the very tournament. He would only be able to lift the ban by winning the tournament with the help of a dog of a local breed.

However, considering the top-tier breeds of dogs that take part in the competition, Gabri never again became the champion. So when he found an agile dog (Neymar), he decided to train him and try his luck again. In the completion that we see in the movie too, we see how Venkit tries to win by cheating; proving that he was never a generous champion. He was the one to go against the customs of the competition and the Sevalpet festival itself, and he still is.

Does Neymar Win the Charles Moratt Competition?
Yes. But there’s more to Neymar’s victory than just the championship. He won the hearts of all those people who were watching him. He was about to cross the finishing line when he paused and returned to help Venkit’s dog Vetri who had fallen into a pit and was struggling to come out.

Neymar pulls Vetri out using a rope, and Vetri, who could have won the race, shows true sportsmanship and leaves the ground; letting his competitor win it and, thus, the championship.
Does Kunjava Get the dog Back from Pondicherry?
Gabri kept his deal of giving Neymar back to Kunjava if he won the Championship and got back Sultan. Moreover, Kunjava’s father Sahadevan also accepted the dog, who never really stopped loving him. Had it not been for his son’s pet, Sahadevan, and his friends, couldn’t have saved the two kids from Venkit’s goons. So yes, Kunjava does bring his four-legged friend back home from Pondicherry at the end of the movie.
While the movie is headlined by a dog, it is low on emotions. This affects the overall theme of the movie. However, as we had mentioned in the introduction, the execution of the story makes up for it considerably by showing the journey of how Kunjava and Sinto find and bring Neymar back.
The family entertainer is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
