Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Ending Explained: Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1 ended on a massive high note, with one of the best last episodes ever. I absolutely loved every part of it, but it left many questions unanswered. Let us look at what actually happened.

  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 Director

    Shōta Goshozono

  • AKA

Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1 or Jujutsu Kaisen: Shimetsu Kaiyuu – Zenpen (呪術廻戦 「死滅回游 前編」)

Did Gojo Get Out Of The Prison Realm?

No, Gojo did not get out of the prison realm yet. The culling game has just started, and there is still time before the strongest sorcerer can come out. This season was not at all focused on him, and most likely, we will see him in the next part or the next season.

What Happens To Yuji?

After entering the culling game, Yuji had to fight with Higuruma, who was another very strong sorcerer. In this segment, Yuji struggled a lot against the latter, but at the very last moment, he won. It had more to do with Yuji’s heart and personality than power.

He kind of changed Higuruma’s views and convinced him to believe in humans again. After that, we did not see much of him, as this season focused on different characters as the story progressed.

Who Are Some Of The New Players Introduced In The Game?

Some of the new players introduced in the culling game turn out to be some of the strongest in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. In the beginning, we meet characters like Naoya, who we thought would showcase tremendous power, but he gets humbled quickly, soon after he is introduced.

We also see Higuruma, a disgruntled lawyer who once believed in justice but then became villainous after being blamed for a situation that was not under his control.

Later, we meet Ryu and Takako, who again turn out to be exceptional. They end up becoming one of the biggest obstacles for Yuta. Plus, we definitely can not forget about Reggie.

Though we did not see much of Hakari and Kirara, we should be able to see them in the future properly.

What Happens To The Culling Game Toward The End?

The last conflict that we saw was between Kurourushi, Ryu, Takako, and Yuta. Yuta literally takes on 4 opponents at one point, and the episode descends into chaos.

At first, Kurourushi, which is a cockroach, starts fighting with Yuta. He handles it with ease, with his reverse curse technique. However, the main fight begins when Ryu and Takako enter the picture.

Towards the end, despite brutally beating them, Yuta lets them go after taking their points. They are left alive, and most probably, they will return later in the show.

What Can We Expect In Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3: The Culling Game Part 2?

In the next season, we might finally be able to know what Kenjaku really wanted from the culling game. Other than that, the characters might meet each other, with Yuji reuniting with Megumi. I’m also hopeful that characters like Maki and Choso would have bigger roles then.

But I’m most excited about the reappearance of Sukuna.

For me, this season was one of the best of the franchise. The director, Goshozono Shouta, did a phenomenal job of incorporating cinematic elements that gave this series a never-before-seen feel.

The animation in itself was absolutely beautiful. This made every panel memorable and gorgeous to look at.
