Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 22 Recap

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 23 Review Blooming Begins

This episode delivered a calm moment before the chaos, as the Yozakura family enjoyed a peaceful picnic. Joining them were members of Hinagiku and the spy organization, sharing in the festive atmosphere. This gathering is more than just tradition; it’s a ritual the Yozakura family observes before major battles. They always return to their special cherry blossom tree, a symbol passed down since the first generation head. The tree is no ordinary one—it’s connected with the Somenine in Yozakura blood, offering them healing powers in return.

During this picnic, Mutsumi outlines three critical objectives for their upcoming infiltration of Skull Island. First, they need to secure all the Hazakura on the island. Second, they must rescue and protect anyone who has been captured by Tanpopo against their will. Finally, they must uncover Momo Yozakura’s true intentions and determine whether he poses a threat.

However, there’s a fourth mission that Kyoichiro reveals only to Taiyo. He suspects that Tanpopo might be using his mother’s body, which was never recovered after the accident years ago and was presumed destroyed. His suspicion stems from the belief that the remarkable effects of Hazakura would be impossible to achieve without experimenting on the real Somenine.

Interestingly, Kyoichiro seems to be warming up to Taiyo, though he’s reluctant to admit it. He claims that he’s only sharing this secret with Taiyo because he’s an outsider, but it’s clear that there’s more to it than that. The episode wraps up with the Yozakura family and their allies making their dramatic entrance onto Skull Island, launching their infiltration in full force.

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 23 Review And Recap

An intense battle starts at Skull Mountain, where we see Futaba fighting against Akai. Keiko also helps through a helicopter by shooting down her targets effectively. Kurosawa, on the other hand, fights directly with Taiyo, but Shinzo comes in to take Taiyo’s spot. They both start an intense battle where Shinzo keeps shooting at Kurosawa, and he counters it with his indestructible body.

Akai is having some problems keeping Futaba at bay. Thus, she fires her very powerful flames through which she can throw a thermal ray of condensed heat towards Futaba, who, for the first time, is taken by surprise with this. But the actual battle begins when both the ladies start to use their blooming capabilities, and we see Futaba’s bloom for the very first time. Her powers can envelop all attacks and neutralise them, rendering them useless.

Nanao and Kengo also face off against Aonoma. Thus, here, we see everyone engaging in their own battle. But this episode gives us a deeper look inside the Tanpopo organisation. Each of them has grave secrets which have forced them to become evil. Not only that, but not all of them are absolutely ruthless, as some do care about their peers. However, there are also some who do not care whether they are killing innocent lives or their own people.

Kengo, who is the kindest of all the Yozakura siblings, finally snaps at the atrocity of Kurosawa. He, too, begins his bloom, and it seems it truly is a scary power that even he fears.

Verdict

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 23 Review Blooming Begins

Today’s episode focused more on Futaba and Kengo. They both awaken their ultimate powers and prove how different and more terrifying the power of Somenine is than Hazakura. The episode was enjoyable nonetheless.
