MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 14 Review: After anticipating for months, the show premiered its fifteenth season with wonderful home cooks ready to win the grand title. On the judge’s panel, we have the previous season’s professional chefs, Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, and late Jock Zonfrillo, back on the set to taste and deliver excellent critics. Surprisingly, it doesn’t stop with them because other professionals like Jamie Oliver will also be making cameos to test the contestants with their best.
The participating contestants are Adi Nevgi, Alice Han, Amy Tanner, Andrea Puglisi, Antonio Cruz Vaamonde, Brent Draper, Cath Collins, Declan Cleary, Grace Jupp, Jessica Perri, Larissa Sewell, Malissa Fedele, Phil Conway, Ralph Kahango, Rhiannon Anderson, Robbie Cooper, Rue Mupedzi and Theo Loizou.

In today’s episode, the winning team of the service challenge took part in the immunity pin round. When the contestants came in, each of their respective counters had a huge gift box. The judges asked the contestants to see their gifts and everyone received unique kitchen equipment. Phil got an ice cream maker, Declan received a pressure cooker, and likewise.
Speaking of the challenge, the contestants had to make a satisfactory dish using only the equipment they’ve been gifted with, to win 10 grand worth of Harvey Norman gift card, a chance to stay out of the elimination round as well as the opportunity to grab the immunity pin by battling a professional chef.

The timer started and the contestants went ahead with their preparation. Everyone were aware of their equipment except Robbie. But somehow he understood the machine and made a fantastic dish with it. All the contestants had unique ideas in their minds and executed them perfectly.
During the preparation, the judges went around giving their suggestions. Melissa and Shannon gave Cath a heads-up because her cake batter was already too sweet and a strawberry jam will make it more sweeter. Keeping this in mind, Cath added a sour taste to the cream to balance the birthday cake she was preparing.
In this episode, Robbie’s and Cath’s personal life was shown with their childhood pictures and other stories. Cath explaining her mother baking a cake for all of her ten children on their birthdays really touched my heart. It is so nice of the editors to show the viewers an insight into the cooks’ lives as it helps the fans to learn more about their favourites.

The preparation time ended and all the cooks presented their dishes. Not a single one of them got negative feedback because all of their dishes amazed the judges. However, Declan’s Thai dish was outstanding and he won the Harvey Norman card as well as the escape from Sunday’s elimination challenge.
To win the immunity pin, Declan had to battle a professional Chef, Sergio Perera. When Sergio came in the fellow contestants were in awe with his handsome face (I sure was as well). Their challenge was to choose one clotch of ingredients with which they should make a dish. Each clotch contained two flavour ingredients.
Declan was given 75 minutes time and Sergio 60 minutes. The three judges left the main hall leaving Shannon to manage the cooks. The challenge started and the preparation began. Both Sergio and Declan chose fish as their primary ingredient. To be honest, both of their ideas nailed well and their plating looked delicious.

The judges blind-tasted it and loved Declan’s meal. They came out to the main hall and gave their feedback for both dishes before announcing Declan as the winner. Officially, Declan became the first contestant of Season 15 to win a pin.
MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 14 Review: Declan Deserved It
Declan’s strength is fish and thanks to the flavour ingredients he knew that he can ace it. He has always made delicious food and it was no wonder he won the pin. He was calm and was ready to win no matter what. In fact, Sergio himself said that he saw the passion in Declan’s eyes.
The challenge idea was really good because the pair of ingredients weren’t cohesive at first sight but indeed worked well. I mean, who would think mushrooms and blueberries will go well with each other? Sergio did and he provided a wholesome dish. The professional Chef gave a unique unexpected dish while Declan leveled up his skills.

Today’s episode was all about happy vibes and Declan’s hat-trick win is well deserved. You can watch MasterChef Australia Season 15 Episode 14 now on Disney+ Hotstar. If you’ve watched the recent episode, let us know what you feel about the challenges given to the contestants.
