Mashle Episode 8 Review- The Battle Of Mid

Lemon Punch Mashle Episode 8

Mashle is the kind of show I feel bad for saying bad things about. It has its heart in the right place and is trying to do its best with the cards that it was dealt. It doesn’t have the best production or the most original story in the world, but it tries to make the most out of every situation it is put in. Of course, it is the one that puts itself in these situations, but let’s not get too pedantic here. We are trying to deal with this with positivity. However, it is really hard to say what I am going to say next kindly- Mashle’s biggest crime is that it is boring.

The events happening on the screen make sense, and it isn’t a poorly-written show. There are multiple different characters with good personalities and motivations that go beyond just becoming the best magician. It is funny at times, and the current storyline it is on is legitimately the most exciting thing it has ever done. However, despite all that, it is not interesting enough to keep me returning to it and looking forward to each episode.

Lemon Doll Mashle Episode 8

This episode featured the beginning of a great plot point, where Mash, Lance, Dot, and Finn set out to rescue Lemon, who has been put under the spell of Magia Lupus, who have emerged as the big threat of this season, if not the entire anime. The main characters setting out to find them and Dot doing what he did in Mashle Episode 8 was very good. I don’t have a bad word to say about what happened in this episode, except that despite all this, it was boring. The fights that were showcased were boring, the character development was boring, and the episode itself was boring.

The series feels empty and half-baked. Somebody wanted to do a good thing here, to be able to parody a series as big and expansive as the Wizarding World Of Harry Potter, but they wanted to do it by putting in the least amount of effort possible, and it is not working for me. So much more could be done with the premise of the show than what they ended up doing that the end product is almost infuriating.  I can’t get into what is happening because I don’t see the effort in it.

Other than that, this wasn’t a bad episode. As discussed, the Magia Lupus is suitably sinister and serves as a good foil for Mash and the team. The matchups have been chosen well, and it should make for some back-and-forth battles. The end result is obvious, but Mash’s opponent also being magicless and exactly like him should serve as a good folly and something new for the show. Dot also had a good showing in this episode, and his fight was somewhat creative, even if it still was boring.

Verdict

Mashle Episode 8 was solid, but the show has officially reached the point where I can’t bring myself to care about it. Events feel unimportant and weightless, and the show doesn’t do a good job of keeping viewers interested.
