Lazarus Episode 3 Recap

Lazarus Episode 4 Review
Lazarus Episode 4 Review: Still

This episode kicks off with an intriguing twist with Doctor Skinner several steps ahead, thanks to some clever moves. Hackers have made it nearly impossible to identify Skinner by digitally overlaying his face onto countless people worldwide. Only a rare group of elite hackers could pull off something so complex, and the Lazarus team is determined to track them down. Meanwhile, they follow another lead involving Claude, a professor who once mentored Doug and had past ties to Skinner. Axel and Doug head out to find Claude, while Leland and Christine search Skinner’s home for clues.

Doug and Axel soon discover that Claude has fallen on hard times and is now living among the homeless. Interestingly, they spot a man resembling Doctor Skinner among the crowd, but this lead remains unexplored for now. Eventually, they locate Claude, who is playing chess with a few others. It turns out Claude’s jealousy toward Skinner led him to attempt dishonest shortcuts in his career, resulting in his expulsion from the university and his current situation on the streets.

Despite his downfall, Claude provides crucial intel on Doctor Skinner’s grandmother, who might still be alive and residing in Istanbul. Axel and Leland are assigned to follow up on this lead. However, due to Leland’s reckless behaviour, the mission quickly spirals out of control, landing them in serious trouble.

Even though Doctor Skinner is nowhere to be found, the Lazarus team has some clue about him. Apparently, the hacker who was associated with him format sold all his Hapna shares right before the moment Doctor Skinner made the announcement of Hapna being a killer drug. This means Doctor Skinner must have used this hacker to erase all his data so that he could be untraceable.  Interestingly, this hacker is also associated with a stockbroker called Sam who also owns a nightclub.

Thus, Axel, Leland, Christine and Doug go to the nightclub to mingle with the inner circles of Sam and see what is the matter. Their goal is to get selected by Sam for his lavish private parties. Funnily enough, Leland is the first one to get selected because he really looks like a very pure girl. Later, Christine also joins him and now they can get all the information they want about Hapna.

This segment is one of the most interesting ones as we find out who has been the hacker all along. It was a DJ who was famous for his music and was going around making all the transactions and helping Sam with the stock. Here, the latter half of the series was action-packed and it showcased a very good action choreography that is the signature of this anime Lazarus.

Now the mystery about Hapna thickens because towards the end of the episode, we realise that whatever we knew about the drug and Doctor Skinner was absolutely nothing. There is much to this than what has been revealed and there are big corporations that are involved in this business.

Verdict

Lazarus Episode 4 Review: Still

I really liked today’s episode as it was action-heavy and also entertaining. The occasional humour was also very nice and the characters are quickly becoming more likeable than ever before. Though it is still early to predict, this anime should be a really good outcome of this season’s lineup.
