Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 7 Recap: Sidharth Malhotra and Vicky Kaushal React to Being Called Quintessential Thirst Traps

Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 7 starts off with the host Karan Johar talking about reading reviews about all the films and how different types there can be. From academic to live tweeting ones, he reads them all and then moves on to call upon the guests of the episodes and introduce them as front runners for best actors at every award ceremony.

The synopsis of the episode reads, “The newlywed Vicky Kaushal and the most eligible bachelor in B-town Sidharth Malhotra return to the Koffee couch to discuss thirst traps, their successful movies and marriages.” The episode has a runtime of about 50 minutes in total.

Without further ado, Karan Johar straight away shoots his question about newlywed Vicky Kaushal’s marriage with Katrina Kaif and calls it a couch of manifestation. He talks about how he played cupid for the couple and takes full credit for their relationship. However, he does complain about not being invited to the wedding and how he & Alia Bhatt drunk-dialled to congratulate him.

Vicky expresses how he feels settled and lucky to have found a life partner in Katrina. He says that they met in person for the first time at Zoya Akhtar’s house and how so many memes were coming up regarding their private wedding. They even had a group chat where they would share the memes that even Karan showed on the show and laugh at the ridiculousness.

Soon KJo moves on to his next target Sidharth Malhotra and his girlfriend Kiara Advani. Mentioning the manifestation couch again and if he would like to manifest his wedding with her. He also showed a clip of Kiara from the upcoming episode where he nudged her to spill the beans about the relationship and even promised to dance on the song Dola re with Shahid Kapoor.

However, Karan says that he won’t hound Sidharth with such questions anymore but we all know better. As he delves again with a rather strange question like how do you manage to shower love to your significant other, with such busy schedules? But when he didn’t get any juicy or satisfactory response he moved on to talking about their films.

Johar further asks them if they compare their career graph with other leading actors in the industry like Ranbir Kapoor or Ranveer Singh. They both answer along the lines of, everyone having a different journey in life. Following the conversation, Johar tells them that people find it confusing whether to put Vicky Kaushal on ‘nepo kids’ list or not.

His father is well known in the industry but most people consider him an outsider. On this Vicky answers that Arjun Kapoor joked about it initially and then he also realised he belongs in neither. He further says that it’s a fact that his father is from the industry but it was laid out to him early on that his father has his own struggles and Vicky needs to deal with his own.

His father said, “I know nothing about acting, I am a person working behind the camera. All I know is when I see an actor performing, I know if he is an actor or not.” And Vicky further comments that the definition of Nepotism is said with a very broad stroke on the internet, on which Johar changes the subject by saying let’s not get into that.

And brings up the topic of them being the pin-up boys as sex symbols and calls them quintessential thirst traps, followed by some thirst tweets that certainly tickle the host’s funny bones and wild imagination. The best thing to come out of it was Johar’s admitting to Student of the Year having no logic or script.

He recalls how on the 4th day of shooting Johar was questioning himself, why are they making this film with such a bad script? He wanted to give justification to Sidharth’s middle-class boy character affording such high-end brand clothes by, showing that he sells the gold medals he won, to buy the clothes.

Anyway, the film would have been a disaster like it already is. They moved to rapid fire round where Vicky impressed the audience with his quick-witted answers and won the hamper by 51% votes. The difference in votes wasn’t much but Sidharth’s reserved nature might have come in the way of answering honestly.

Koffee With Karan Season 7 Episode 7: Final Thoughts

It was an alright episode with two happy-go-lucky actors, with not much to spill as their lives are already open to the public eyes. They delved into some details about their work, preparation for films and of course, their love life. From the intruding questions about sex, we know now that most celebrities have had sex at various public places. (Do we really need to know that?)

In the last slam zone, Vicky Kaushal won as well, by calling Kiara Advani before Sidharth could, along with Katrina Kaif and Sara Ali Khan. For some reason, it was a cute moment to hear Katrina calling him baby, as soon as she picked up the call.
