Kleo Season 2: Has Netflix Renewed the German Spy-Thriller Series?

Kleo, a German action-thriller drama series is getting praised and critics alike for its extensive production design and storyline, which is being enjoyed by everyone. The series created by Richard Kropf, Hanno Hackfort and Bob Konrad, follows a former secret agent, a woman recently released from prison, who wants revenge and answers of all her questions.

There are 8 episodes in total with a runtime of about 44-56 minutes respectively. In the series Jella Haase plays the titular role of Kleo, alongside Dimitrij Schaad as Sven, Julius Feldmeier as Thilo, Vladimir Burlakov as Andi Wolf, Vincent Redetzki as Uwe Mittig and many others.

Will There Be Kleo Season 2?

Currently, the news of the renewal of the series by Netflix or its creator hasn’t been released or confirmed but considering its end, the possibility is not zero. In the end, we saw Min Sun giving the red suitcase that she stole from Margot Hornecker at the airport, to the US envoy. In return, she gets money and says she doesn’t care about the content of the suitcase.

On the other hand, when Margot opens the case, she finds it filled with toilet paper rolls and screams in agony. Simultaneously, after being rejected by her own mother, who doesn’t want to do anything with her past, Kleo finds some solace in Sven and the two of them end up getting intimate, in the heat of the moment.

However, in the morning Kleo thinks that she might have made a mistake by giving the suitcase to Aunt Margot. Maybe she is thinking of getting the case back, as her next goal since she has nothing else to look forward to now. But Sven accidentally says that even Margot wouldn’t have the red suitcase.

It makes Kleo suspicious and she starts questioning Sven regarding it. He doesn’t answer his question but Kleo reaches for her gun, Sven stops her and tries to run away. Both of them are seen running and Kleo shoots up in the air, even though she could aim at Sven easily and calls him a betrayer, screamingly.

But what is interesting is that Min Sun seems to have a suspicious smile on her face while giving the suitcase. When the American envoy opens the suitcase, the screen turns black, instead of revealing whether the case has the secret documents or not. It makes us question whether Min Sun has ulterior motives and could be working for someone else. She could have given false documents as well.

She is often seen speaking in Chinese, which could link her to being a Chinese spy infiltrating the German secret services. Also, now that Kleo has got her answers and has no other goals, she might embark on the journey again to get the suitcase and use it to her advantage. Although Sven has betrayed her, she might use him as a key bait to get to Min Sun.

The series has a number of possibilities to carry on Kleo in different places, disguises and deadly missions. The strangest of all storylines was of Thilo, who was seen taken up by the aliens to his home planet, I guess? Whether it is something that really happened or an illusion of the hallucinatory stuff that he takes, needs to be cleared up as well.

So far, the reaction to the series has been good and viewers are often comparing it to Killing Eve or Tarantino style of production. With the good reviews and popular demand, we can expect the creators to come out with the news of the renewal of the series before the year ends, hopefully!
