House of the Dragon Episode 7 Preview: There Are Debts to Be Paid

House of the Dragon Episode 7 Preview starts off with the funeral proceedings of Laena Velarion as we hear Lord Corlys saying, “What is this brief mortal life, if not the pursuit of legacy?” Episode 6 was titled ‘The Princess and the Queen’ and has a runtime of about 1 hour and 7 minutes. It is directed by Miguel Sapochnik, and the teleplay is written by Sara Hess.

Previously, Daemon visits his wife in the Vale, which ended up in her unfortunate death. Viserys and Rhaenyra broker agreements with the Velaryons. Meanwhile, Alicent seeks the truth about the princess, which leads to her allegiance with Ser Criston Cole, as she pulls him out of his heartbroken misery.

In episode 6, as the show takes a leap of 10 years, we see that Rhaenyra’s marriage of ‘convenience’, may have got her out of the political game of marriage, however, Rhaenyra’s lies about her marriage and children are starting to catch up with her. This episode shows a new side of Alicent as she is trying to corner the princess with her new allies, Criston Cole and Lord Larys.

It also showed the slow unravelling of Daemon’s marriage while living in Pentos, with his second wife Laena Velarion and his two daughters. In the preview, it seems that Otto Hightower is back in the game after taking a backseat. While Rhaenyra is trying to build up her own strength as an heir with a strong army and dragons.

Talking about dragons, it seems like someone will steal Laena’s dragon Vhagar, after her death, as Daemon, Rhaenyra and Lord Corlys seem together and maybe join hands. Followed by screaming and grunting sounds, with a hooded man on the screen and Alicent Hightower talking about a debt to be paid.

While Rhaenyra says, “Now they see you as you are”, probably to Alicent, as their relationship turns for worse in the coming episodes. The latest episode was like a second pilot, to introduce us to grown-up characters and now we will see how things have changed between them, with a desperate struggle for power, as the king seems to be at his life’s end.
