The Husband Episode 12 Review
Tae-ju Chooses to Save a Life
Tae-ju is in danger as Man-hee and Chi-ung stand over him with a potassium chloride syringe. However, Man-hee tells Chi-ung not to kill Tae-ju, as he is needed to save Gyeongae.
Man-hee is selfish because he knows Tae-ju has a high success rate in surgeries. Despite everything Man-hee has done, Tae-ju decides to operate on Gyeongae. He also makes it clear that this isn’t forgiveness. He is acting as a doctor.

Chi-ung’s Jealousy Finally Consumes Him
Man-hee is a villain who became evil to protect someone he loves, but Chi-ung is the real evil person. All he wanted was recognition as the best doctor in the hospital and someone who can perform ground-breaking surgeries. The problem is, Tae-ju is better than him, and he just doesn’t want him to exist beside him.
His breakdown is so pathetic. After losing control, he robs a store and eventually attacks Se-yun, stabbing her in the neck. It is a horrifying scene that shows how far his jealousy has gone.

Thankfully, Man-hee has all his confessions written and recorded against Chi-ung.
Tae-ju’s Revenge Is Not Death
The most satisfying aspect of Tae-ju’s conclusion is that he chooses humanity over revenge. He could’ve killed Man-hee or let him flee, but he chooses to save him and make him pay the consequences of his actions legally. He also ensures that his doctor motto is always respected.
However, the way he does surgery with a severe hand injury kind of goes against his doctor principles. Emotionally, the scene works; medically, it is much harder to accept.

Se-yun and Tae-ju Finally Face the Truth
Finally, we come to the main leads’ marriage. Se-yun finally sees the full recording of Tae-ju asking Man-hee to get rid of Se-yun. She understands what he was actually trying to do. He wasn’t trying to hurt her. He believed removing himself would leave Se-yun at peace.
Tae-ju makes decisions for Se-yun instead of communicating with her and letting her handle her decisions. His secrecy becomes another form of emotional distance, even though he is trying to protect her out of love. Their decision to divorce makes a lot of sense, as after all they’ve gone through, it is best to walk out of each other’s lives.

A Quiet, Bittersweet Ending
Tae-ju establishes his own neurosurgery practice and begins rebuilding his life. His hand needs rehab, and he is willing to heal it and practise medicine properly. Meanwhile, Se-yun continues living her own life. Their late child Ha-yun is the connecting part between them.
On their daughter’s birthday, both Tae-ju and Se-yun independently return to Hayun’s memorial in the woods. They simply walk together, remembering the child who changed both their lives forever. But this doesn’t let them reunite as they’re independently healing.
Final Wrap

The Husband started with two couples hating each other, a kidnapping, a conspiracy and finally ended with lots of pain to be healed. The conspiracy is resolved, the criminals are arrested, and Tae-ju remains true to himself by choosing healing over revenge. The romance felt realistic as their separation made a lot of sense. Rejoining would’ve made it all worse because no one can love over a day when they’ve been hating each other for years.
Tae-ju and Se-yun may no longer be husband and wife, but Ha-yun will always connect them. And perhaps that quiet understanding is the most honest ending The Husband has given to all of us.
