Go Go Loser Ranger or Sentai Daishikkaku (戦隊大失格) is a manga series which is written as well as illustrated by Negi Haruba. The manga first began in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on February 3, 2021. Since then, the series has been released as individual tankōbon volumes, with the first one hitting the shelves on April 16, 2021. As of February 16, 2024, a total of thirteen volumes have been published. In November 2021, Kodansha USA announced at Anime NYC’s panel that they had secured the license for the series.

This anime is produced by Yostar Pictures and directed by Keiichi Sato. The scripts for the series are written by Keiichirō Ōchi, and the character designs are handled by Kahoko Koseki. Kenji Hayama is in charge of the animation. It’s all set to premiere on April 7, 2024, on TBS and Disney+. Tatsuya Kitani will perform the opening song called “On The Next Episode”, and Nanawo Akari will perform the ending song titled “Don’t Need the Right Answer”.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 6 Review Fighting Against Stronger Opponents

Today’s episode was definitely one of the best ones of this season. This anime has shown how different its characters can be as no one is good or bad in the truest sense. One time you root for the badly treated villains however, on the other hand, you also understand the cruelty of the heroes.

In this episode, we see all the Rangers gearing up for the final exam after which they can join their respective Squads. But for the final test, D will have to fight alongside his rival, Kai with whom he does not get along at all. At its core, it seems like the rivalry is your usual banter between the top scorers of any programme, but in between, lies ideological differences which make Kai, Hibiki/D’s natural antithesis.

Not only that but it seems that Kai definitely has some sort of grudge or bad experiences with the villains. This makes him even hate the idea of the villainous army existing and want complete annihilation of their kind. It is clear that something must have happened to him in the past and he wants to defeat a particular villain that he believes to be the main culprit. But Kai is also very antisocial and self-centred. He believes that as the top scorer working with someone else especially D, will drag him down and hence he berates his partner and refuses his help in the ongoing examination.

But what he does not know is that he is far from strong enough. Even though he might be a promising Ranger, he is nowhere near as strong as the others who actually work for the Ranger squads. This is proven when Kai goes against Shun and gets completely thrashed in the process.

Verdict

Today’s episode was very interesting and goes against what you expect in many situations. I like that this series always keeps you guessing about its characters and their circumstances. This is why you do not feel bored even though you know how the overall story is going to end.
