Dream Home Makeover Season 4 Review: Shea and Syd Make Dreamy Ideas Real Again

Shea and Syd McGee are back with another season of home makeovers after three successful seasons. Shea and Syd McGee started their career by first posting the photos of their home’s re-decor on Instagram. Soon after, the couple became famous and established McGee Studios. They are currently one of the top teams that help many clients’ dreams become a reality.

Dream Home Makeover Season 4 packs six episodes, each running for 30 minutes. The cast of the reality show includes Shea, Syd, Tyler, Kelsie, and other notable people who help Shea and Syd’s clients. The official Netflix description of the series reads, “Rustic yet Chic. Coastal but classy. Funky and functional. For Shea and Syd McGee of Studio McGee, no dream home is too far from reality.” True to its description, the show’s cast serves all the home makeovers gorgeously.

Homes Become New but the Show Has Nothing New

There are precisely 5 clients in Season 4 for whom Shea and Syd bring in a huge surprise. Starting off with Teresa’s home, an employee of McGee Studios, it can be clearly seen how Shea doesn’t compromise on anything. She only wants the best for her clients, and she is willing to throw away half of the finished work if they don’t appeal to her. After re-working again and again if needed, Shea and Syd present only the finest end result.

In season 4, we can see how Shea and Syd touch various types, from chic and granny to modern yet bohemian. Every tile, color, faucet design, and such are handpicked by Shea and Syd, and they ensure that the room has accent tones. It was really nice to see how Shea sought other experts’ opinions and did not just rely on her own ideas.

While all these aspects seem refreshing, there isn’t anything too new about this show. It is a regular charming reality show that one can watch to kill time, get inspired for their home makeovers, learn some aspects of interior designs, and such. The show does give out its content—retouching old rooms into new ones—perfectly. But that’s the only thing there is to it.

Shea and Syd’s Personal Life Gets Shown As Well

One wonderful aspect that helps in keeping the viewers attentive is Shea and Syd’s family time. The 30-minute episode isn’t only about working on every client’s home. We get to see the three children of the McGee couple and how they spend time with the kids, such as building a fort, visiting the Polar Express, and such. There is also a special episode entirely dedicated to the couple and a makeover of one of their personal units; you’ll know when you watch it. The couple emits a beautiful chemistry, and it is cute to see it.

Tight Budgets Are Exhibited Greatly

One amazing aspect of Shea is her ability to make even a small budget work out. In one episode, the requirement of a couple would be quite large for the budget they were willing to pay. But even with that amount, Shea tries her best to organize and arrange the client’s desires. Expectedly, the room turns out terrific, and the client couple bawls their eyes out in happiness. The best part is that Shea picks the finest colours to make the room look so good that people won’t believe it was remade with such a small amount.

Dream Home Makeover Season 4: Final Verdict

Dream Home Makeover is a show for everyone to watch, and it gives a decent output. With various clients, their homes, creative ideas, a new location, and the McGee couple’s input, the show is a good combo that does justice to the show’s title. It’s neither too unique nor too bland; the show has neutral aspects. Honestly, if you want to learn about interior design or you want just to kill time, Dream Home Makeover is an option.
