Money Heist Korea 2 (Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) is here and the thieves have escaped Mint in the most iconic, yet old-fashioned way that we have witnessed before. The Korean remake of La Casa de Papel aka Money Heist is here with its season 2 and a plot that is similar yet slightly different from the original.
Directed by Kim Hong-sun, the cast includes Yoo Ji-tae who plays the mastermind character Professor, Park Hae-soo as Berlin, Jeon Jong-seo as Tokyo, Lee Won-jong as Moscow, Kim Ji-hoon as Denver, Jang Yoon-ju as Nairobi, Lee Hyun-woo as Rio, Kim Ji-hun as Helsinki, and Lee Kyu-ho as Oslo, alongside others.

Money Heist Korea 2 Review
The Korean heist continues where it left us all last season, as episode 7 brings us back to the continuation of the heist that has a bigger goal than anticipated. With the focus on the escape of the heisters trapped inside the Mint, this season showed us the back story of the Professor and Berlin as well as the time the team spent together while planning the heist.

The remake has definitely done a good job as it keeps the original plot but also brings in its own twists and turns which we appreciate. While Park Hae-soo steals the spotlight once again, I am quite satisfied with this Korean adaptation.
And as someone who hasn’t watched the original, this was definitely an eye-catcher which did not disappoint as it kept me intrigued right till the end. However, I would have liked more insight into the Professor’s role in the unification plan that was the root of this whole mess.

I had been looking forward to his role as the root of this whole situation, but I was quite disappointed when the makers just decided to skip that story as a whole. And now I am just left with endless questions about his identity that connects him to the corrupt officials.
I had also expected the newly introduced character Seoul to have more scenes and an even stronger role, but have not gotten that has also left me hanging.
Summing Up

The Korean remake has impressed and disappointed me at the same time- with the latter being because of the many unanswered questions that it has left me with. However, the personal touch that this remake has given to the original is much appreciated and makes it unique in its own way.
Finally, keeping in mind that this is after all a remake of the original, the show has done a good job and deserves praise for being able to take up the challenge of making a Korean adaptation of La Casa de Papel.
Watch Money Heist Korea 2 on Netflix.
