Divorce Attorney Shin (신성한, 이혼) is a Korean courtroom drama series, co-directed by Lee Jae-hoon and Lim Jun-hyuk. The screenplay is written by Yoo Young-ah and it has been adapted from the webtoon of the same name by Kang Tae-kyung, which was published from 10 September 2019 to 31 August 2021 by Kakao.
The drama stars Cho Seung-woo, Han Hye-jin, Kim Sung-kyun, and Jung Moon-sung in the lead roles. Divorce Attorney Shin Episode 5 continues attorney June’s quest to join Shin Sung-han’s office but only ends up infuriating him more. Meanwhile, Hyeong-geun is not able to come to a conclusion about his marriage.

Netflix describes the series as: Divorce Attorney Shin follows a driven by a personal tragedy, pianist-turned-lawyer who navigates the complex world of divorce — fighting for his clients to win by any means necessary. The K-drama follows Shin Sung-han who majored in piano and became a professor at a music university in Germany.
However, something happens and he is urged to come back to South Korea and starts working on becoming a lawyer. And not just any lawyer but especially a divorce lawyer, due to some reasons that are related to his own life. He is also joined by his childhood friends – Jang Hyung-geun and Jo Jeong-sik who call themselves 40-year-old youths.

Divorce Attorney Shin Episode 5 Recap
In Episode 5, a new case is introduced which is very different from other divorce cases. A man and his girlfriend walk into Sung-han’s office wanting him to prove that they are having an affair & get a divorce finalised. But it isn’t a shallow case as it seems.
The man, Professor Choi, is apparently suffering from liver cancer & needs a liver transplant to live. But his wife refuses to help, while the girlfriend wants to, she can’t donate without being related to the man. That’s why they need to get married. This complicated case makes Sung-han contemplate over taking it or not but when the man’s son comes seeking his help, Sung-han decides to help the dying man.
He asks Mr Choi to cancel all the insurance so that his wife won’t be able to take advantage of his death & take away all the insurance money. But he also warns him that it could put a criminal record under his name & he needs to be prepared for it. Meanwhile, Hyeong-geun is also going through something similar.

Where his wife is pregnant with her lover’s child & he isn’t ready to divorce her yet, because of his attachment. But on meeting her boyfriend, he feels heartbroken and maybe proceed with a divorce soon.

In the preview, Sung-han is seen discussing Mr Choi’s case with Lee Seo-jin & explaining that the case is very different from hers. Meanwhile, Gi-yeong’s grandmother comes looking for Sung-han in his office but from the looks of it, doesn’t look like a nice meetup & might bring up past wounds for him.
Like the last phone number that his sister Ju-hwa dialled before her death, Sung-han wants to know whom did she talk to that led to such a tragic event. The emergence of the grandmother is not only a bad sign for Sung-han but also for the current daughter-in-law who might react strongly towards Sung-han, when provoked by her.
