Deaimon Episode 7 Overview

deaimon episode 7- hiiro learning from masa

Deaimon is a slice of life, gourmet, and drama anime focusing on a Japanese sweets shop. A guy returns home after 10 years to take care of the shop, and his father’s proclaimed declining health. He is surprised to find a young girl working there, who is claimed by everyone to be the heir to the shop. The anime shows their daily life interactions and various journeys they have taken to end up here at the traditional sweets store in Kyoto. Deaimon is based on a manga written by Rin Asano.

The anime adaptation is developed by Studio Encourage Films, an outfit that has produced many other anime such as Etotama, Hitorijime My Hero, and Isekai Cheat Magician. The show is being produced with Fumitoshi Oizaki (A Centaur’s Life, Etotama) serving as director, Reiko Yoshida (Blue Period, A Silent Voice) supervising the scripts, and Sakae Shibuya (Girl Friend Note, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) designing the characters and overseeing the animation.

Deaimon Episode 7 Review- Bonding Over Sweets

The last episode was a big shock in the terms of expectations of the plot in the series Deaimon. Itsuka’s mother suddenly came into the picture. Though her reasonings for abandonment of her only daughter and fleeing to another country can be considered flimsy at best, maybe we can empathize with her situation. Thankfully though, Itsuka seems to be coming out from her shell much more than ever. She reflects on her life and decides that the people at Ryokushou truly consider her to be a part of their family, and stays back.

Surprisingly, another new cast was added in Deaimon Episode 7. Joining as a new apprentice trainee, Hiiro is from Hachiten. She has completed her confectionary school with outstanding grades. Hiiro seems to be laser-focused on perfection. As rightly noticed by one of the characters, she seems as closed off as Itsuka was in the beginning. Aiming to just achieve her goal “perfectly” without being involved in any task she deems unnecessary, Hiiro starts as a cold character.

This episode of Deaimon was heartwarming. Hiiro’s aspirations and inspirations are both fascinating. Her character is written very well, as, in just an episode, we see her personality evolve organically. She is not a bad person, just too disciplined with herself. Nagomu bonds well with her. This just builds on his character. We have already witnessed how open, accepting, and non-judgemental person Nagomu is. This episode hilariously displays another instance of his accepting nature!

The wagashi-making workshop at the school in Deaimon Episode 7 is a great indicator of the show’s era. Situated in the 21st century where the internet is prevalent, making traditional sweets is not just a family business anymore. It can be enjoyed as a hobby, with more and more people joining in on the trend.

We witness another side character interaction at this workshop. This interaction was spearheaded due to the parent. We are always taught that we should respect our elders and not talk back to them. But sometimes, the elders need a wake-up call. Children can be traumatized too by other people’s opinions. Glad to see such an important topic is being spoken up so eloquently in an anime!

Deaimon Episode 7 was wholesome. The entire plot was extremely well-written. Even though most of the episode revolved around new characters, nothing seemed forced or rushed. With the smooth background music to crisp animations, the message of this episode was delivered well. Accompanied with light humor, sentimental flashbacks, and seasonal representations of wagashi, this episode was one of the show’s finest.
