Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 21 Review: Secret Missions and Survival Politics Make for a Tense Watch

Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 21 continues to be explosive, highlighting what food shortages do to people confined together for an extended period of time. When basic necessities are treated as a privilege that comes with a price, things will obviously turn into a fight, and the latest episode proves just that. With tensions running high between Shilpa and the rest of the house, a few tears are shed, and Shreya gets a new advantage out of the blue; the episode places strategy over comfort and forces contestants to make unpopular choices.

Although some arguments are familiar, viewers will find their allegiances getting muddled up sometimes, but before long, a game-changing twist leaves everyone with their mouth agape.

Food Politics Continue to Divide the House

The episode highlights the food politics in the house that shatters harmony. While everyone is put in a tough spot, the episode shows tensions rising to the extreme as Shilpa constantly clashes with Shivangi and her group, as she threatens to get their money deducted by committing penalties and that, of course, doesn’t work in anyone’s favour. It results in everyone fighting incessantly with her, as no one tries to understand the other’s thought process.

Meanwhile, Chamola, too, tries to speak to Shivangi regarding paying the penalty in exchange for getting tea for her team, but the conversation goes nowhere and ends in more bad blood between the two teams. As a result, Shilpa takes salt from the other group, which deducts 15000 from the money pot. Of course, fights erupt instantly, and a few tears are shed as well.

As frustration spreads throughout the house, it proves that food has evolved beyond just being a survival necessity; it has become one of the most valuable bargaining chips.

Shreya Finds Herself Caught Between Loyalty and Strategy

The fallout from the food dispute results in Shreya Kalra fighting with her own group after they refuse to give her food if she doesn’t sit with them. Unwilling to sit with her group, she promises to stop Shilpa from eating from her plate, but the group refuses to believe her. Of course, it results in a horrible fight between her and Shivangi, who refuses to serve her. Akanksha Chaudhary eventually asks them to compromise a bit; otherwise, Shreya will eat from their half of the food.

Eventually, Shivangi relents, but Shreya and Shilpa aren’t able to complete their meals because they feel targeted and have to beg for food. While their behaviour has been less than savoury over the past few weeks, it’s hard to watch anyone crying over food disputes. Moreover, the situation highlights how personal the strategic decisions have become and how game rules can quickly influence personal relationships when resources are scarce.

A Secret Task Finally Adds Some Strategic Intrigue

In a rather confusing turn of events, Ritesh gives Shreya a secret task after she mentions that she doesn’t like her team. She is tasked with swapping Shivangi’s access card with a dud and stopping the team from ordering breakfast the next day. If she completes the job, she can win a special advantage on Judgement Day. Shreya does complete the task, and the episode highlights how sometimes careful planning works better than confrontation. The situation, although it begs the question, “why Shreya?”, proves that deception is still the biggest part of the gameplay.

Teams Are Forced to Make Difficult Sacrifices

Just when the contestants find a comfortable flow to the game, the gang leaders are immediately pushed to make a difficult choice and cut down their team to four members, including the leader. This means that Shivangi has to get rid of two people, and Chamola has to drop one. In a rather surprising turn of events, Chamola drops Akanksha, and Shivangi drops Shreya and Ram, resulting in the three people questioning their safety. Moreover, Shivangi is given the chance to make someone unsafe till Judgement Day, and she, of course, chooses Shilpa.

The exercise proves once again how personal bonds don’t mean much in the game, and it’s strategic choices that take the front seat.

A Surprise Wildcard Changes Everything

However, not all is lost with the three contestants who remain without a team as Farah brings in Apoorva Makhija, aka Rebel Kid, into the house to lead the newly formed team. This sets the stage for another shift in alliances and strategies as Apoorva has not shied away from making her thoughts known regarding some of the contestants on the show before this. Her arrival promises disruption of the balance as she will surely challenge the dynamics and people’s covert politics within the house. It’s an intriguing hook for the next episode, as we are left to wonder what happens after this.

Final Verdict

With Apoorva’s arrival, hopefully a fresh perspective breaks the cliquey nature of the house and makes things more interesting. Overall, Lock Upp Season 2 Episode 21 is an interesting episode that introduces new strategic layers which will impact future episodes as well. It showcases human nature when necessities are challenged and, apart from everyone screaming at one another constantly, the push and pull between actions and consequences are interesting to watch.
