Deaimon Episode 6 Overview

deaimon episode 6- itsuka running in sport event

Deaimon is a slice of life, gourmet, and drama anime focusing on a Japanese sweets shop. A guy returns home after 10 years to take care of the shop, and his father’s proclaimed declining health. He is surprised to find a young girl working there, who is claimed by everyone to be the heir to the shop. The anime shows their daily life interactions and various journeys they have taken to end up here at the traditional sweets store in Kyoto. Deaimon is based on a manga written by Rin Asano.

The anime adaptation is developed by Studio Encourage Films, an outfit that has produced many other anime such as Etotama, Hitorijime My Hero, and Isekai Cheat Magician. The show is being produced with Fumitoshi Oizaki (A Centaur’s Life, Etotama) serving as director, Reiko Yoshida (Blue Period, A Silent Voice) supervising the scripts, and Sakae Shibuya (Girl Friend Note, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) designing the characters and overseeing the animation.

Deaimon Episode 6 Review- Why I Am Not In The Picture

deaimon episode 6- nagomus father exicited

With the end of the summer, which was full of secrets, rivalry, and foreboding, the foilage has now turned shades of orange and red. The new season marks the initiation of a new chapter. The sweets described in Deaimon Episode 6 change names before and after the spring ohigan equinox, clearly foreshadowing the changes we are going to witness this autumn season in Deaimon.

In Deaimon Episode 6, the school sports festivals are here, and the students are excited. Itsuka wants to also participate in it but wavers in asking the sweets shop’s members to participate. Putting ourselves in her shoes, we can understand her hesitation. She thinks she is a burden on them, and asking them to participate when they are not even her real family is a bit too much. Well, glad that Nagomu jumped the gun and started preparing for the various events. He is shaping up to be an excellent father figure!

The sports events proceed smoothly, or in Nagomu’s father’s case, just as expected. Everyone seems to be having a fun day when suddenly the call rings. It is from Itsuka’s mother! This turn of events was really surprising, as, since the beginning, Deaimon seems to be hinting at Itsuka’s father and his various references scattered throughout. We have no idea where the mother has been all this time or whether she was even in the picture.

Looks like Itsuka’s mother is a terrible, although well-meaning parent. Alongside many characteristics Itsuka possesses, courage seems to be the one she embodies the strongest. And yet, the burden and trauma of being abandoned are very evident in the majority of her actions and decisions. Keeping this in mind, one would anticipate her mother returning to be a big deal. But surprisingly, it went too smoothly.

Deaimon Episode 6 presented Itsuka’s mother, and her backstory is pretty shaky. This episode could have cut down on their comedic moments since the topic of a parent who abandoned returning is pretty heavy, and the episode did not impart that very well. Itsuka’s mother is a character who lies in the grey area for now, as the show aims to promote wholesomeness rather than making someone a villain. With newer meetings, both old and new, happening, we cannot wait to see the journey the main cast will continue upon.

Prognosis

Deaimon Episode 6 involved some pretty heavy topics, which were delivered in a toned-down manner. With excellent representations of the sweets and the changing seasons, this episode might have been even better with the timings reduced for the comedic scenes. Although the writing was okay, the story it delivered was great, and we cannot wait for the next event!
