Crash Course in Romance (일타 스캔들) is a Korean drama series directed by Yoo Je-won, written by Yang Hee-seung, and stars Jeon Do-yeon, Jung Kyung-ho in the leading roles alongside other cast members.

Crash Course in Romance Episode 16 has a total runtime of 75 minutes. Meanwhile, the plot of the series revolves around a brewing romance between a star math instructor and a side dish store owner. Notably, the Kdrama also takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9:10 KST time slot previously occupied by Alchemy of Souls.

Crash Course in Romance Finale begins with Hae-e announcing her decision to move in with her real mother and start a new life with her, which takes everyone by surprise. Nam and her brother are both heartbroken by the news, and Nam confronts Hae-e about her decision. However, Hae-e has made up her mind and is even willing to skip her CSAT exams for the same.

The focus then shifts to Nam and Choi’s story, with the latter trying to console Nam after Hae-e’s decision to depart. They both bond over their emotional moments and the difficulties of suddenly living without Hae-e. The next few scenes show the characters going about their everyday lives, with Nam concentrating on her side dish store and Choi engrossed in his coaching classes.

Nam and Hae-e share another emotional moment, but despite her real mother’s second thoughts about taking her back, Hae-e remains adamant about moving to Japan. However, a twist occurs when Hae-e’s real mother takes matters into her own hands and writes an emotional note to her sister.

She mentions that she won’t take anything from her this time and will leave with memories alone. She also states that she has raised Hae-e like her own daughter and doesn’t want to change things for the better.

Thereby, preventing the duo of Nam and Hae-e from separating from each other, and reconnecting in the middle of the episode.

The episode takes a comical turn when Choi encounters his ex-girlfriend in a coffee shop, and someone takes a photograph of them, which ends up on the internet and eventually reaches Nam. This leads to a cute exchange between Nam and Choi, who talks about the matter with her. One thing leads to another, and they finally propose to each other, bringing their story to a full circle.

The episode ends with a two-year time jump, where we see the characters having the time of their lives. Hae-e has found her own love, Choi is teaching a class, and Nam has completed her exam. The story comes to a satisfying conclusion with all the loose ends tied up.

  1. Loved the show. Hae wanting to move out with her mother, with no explanation, left many unanswered questions. Why would she be so mean to the one she calls mom? At first I thought it was a test to prove that her birth mother was there for money and not her. But she would have left for Japan according to the story line. She became cold and distant to Nam. It was a total slap in the face to all that loved her and took care of her. All they sacrificed for her and she was willing to discard them with little thought. That part of story made me like Hae less.
