Chief Detective 1958 Episode 2 Preview: Park Young-han is an enthusiastic detective who is transferred to Seoul where he is shocked by the inhumane sufferings of the people.

Chief Detective 1958 (수사반장 1958) is a new Korean action thriller bringing the events in the life of detective Park Young-han, who teams up with his colleagues at a new Police Station to fight corruption. The drama is a prequel to the legendary Korean drama Chief Inspector which entertained the audience for 18 years.

The drama focuses on one of the main characters from the original show- Park Young-han played by Choi Bool-am. Now, the prequel brings the younger version of Park Young-han played by Lee Je-hoon. Directed by Kim Sung-hoon, the drama stars also stars Lee Dong-hwi, Choi Woo-sung, Yoon Hyun-soo, Seon Eun-soo, and Choi Deok-moon, alongside other cast members.

Chief Detective 1958 takes over MBC’s Friday & Saturday 21:50 KST time slot previously occupied by Wonderful World.

Chief Detective 1959 Episode 1 Recap

Park Young-han’s story begins in 1958 when he goes from a small town to Seoul after his work became well-known through local newspapers. Assuming his work to have not changed much, Young-han proceeds to capture a well-known gangster but is soon surprised when he sees the gangster being let go right in front of his eyes.

He soon understands why it is not easy to be a detective here, but he is not ready to go. Soon, Young-han comes across some people who make him enthusiastic about what he has in mind. From the mad dog cop Kim Sang-soon, to the strong market boy Jo Kyeong-hwan, Young-han is ready to put forth a new plan in front of the Chief.

However, the other cops at the station are ready for a secret deal and Young-han catches wind of it when Chief Yoo tells him to keep an eye on the others. He gets Sang-soon to join him in capturing these people but when he is busy threatening the others, Sang-soon hits in on the back and makes him faint.

Chief Detective 1958 Episode 2 Prediction

Young-han is not satisfied with what has happened and is ready to get back at the cops who are taking him lightly. However, he is advised to not do anything which only makes him further unsatisfied. He is soon attacked by the gang whose leader he had caught on his first day here.

Young-han is ready to begin a new plan as he convinces Chief Yoo to help recruit more people in Unit 1 of the Investigation Team. He brings together Sang-soon, Jo Kyeong-hwan and the university student he had previously caught- Seo Ho-jung. With just two rules- to protect the weak and beat the bad guys, the legendary detectives’ team is ready to begin its epic journey!

The series will stream from April 19, 2024, to May 18, 2024. Episode 2 of the series will stream on April 20 at 9:50 PM KST (8:00 PM IST).

Following his lead role in Taxi Driver Season 2, Lee Je-hoon is back with Big Bet Season 2 star Lee Dong-hwi, and I Am a Running Mate star Choi Woo-sung.
