Call It Love Episode 9 Recap

Call It Love episode 9 starts with Woo-joo finally getting her hands on Ji-gu. He is left shocked at her sudden appearance, but the two of them have a conversation about his job – Woo-joo wants him to come home and start studying again, but Ji-gu isn’t having any of that and refuses to do as she asks. He asks her why she wants him to study, and after some prodding, she breaks down, telling him that she just wants at least him to have a better life than his two sisters. He should get a regular paying job and move to a better house so that he is not left embarrassed in the future.

Hearing her concerns, Ji-gu comforts his sister and asks her not to shoulder everyone’s problems. Elsewhere, Sun-woo really wants Dong-jin to confess his feelings for Woo-joo!

Anyway, Ji-gu agrees to go back home, but with Woo-joo following him, it’s going to be an interesting turn of events. Right on cue, Woo-joo realises that Ji-gu has been crashing with Dong-jin. Ji-gu tries to calm his sister down, telling her that Dong-jin enjoyed his company since it seemed like he was always lonely. His words do work, but Woo-joo is still left shocked. She decides to talk to Dong-jin before going home.

As she reaches his apartment, however, she stops in her tracks to find Dong-jin and Min-young having a conversation and her hugging him. Woo-joo feels uncomfortable with the entire thing and starts to walk away, but seeing Sung-man walking towards him makes her suspicious and concerned. She stops him from barging in on them, and she threatens him if he harms Dong-jin.

Inside the apartment, Dong-jin’s sudden caring attitude makes Min-young catch her breath, and she rushes to get things in her apartment in order. After giving her the medicine for her fever, Min-young invites him inside for tea, but he clarifies that he doesn’t have any feelings for her and thus will go out for tea when she stops pretending that she is fine and goes to a doctor. She agrees to do so, and after Dong-jin leaves, she breaks down crying.

Inside, Dong-jin gets the news that Ji-gu has moved back home and tries to call Woo-joo. She doesn’t receive the call, still reeling from watching him with Min-young. However, she seems excited when he texts her instead and apologises for not telling her about her brother and then asks her whether she wants to meet then. Woo-joo contemplates his question and eventually turns down his offer.

The next day, Sung-man tells his fears about Min-young and Woo-joo to Young-min, who refuses to acknowledge that Woo-joo was with Dong-jin the whole time. He tells Sung-man that things between the two of them were not good at first, but Sung-man still tells Young-min to contact Woo-joo to get the information anyway, disregarding the former’s concerns about their own company and asking his boss to focus on their own issues first.

Meanwhile, things between Dong-jin and Woo-joo seem to be awkward, even though he tries to engage her in conversation. That doesn’t stop her from stealing glances at him, though, which Sun-woo catches, much to his delight. Eventually, Dong-jin and Woo-joo get roped in to work together, much to Sun-woo’s delight again. Later on, Yu-ri tells Sun-woo and Soo-hee about her meeting with Young-min and mentions how he was asking about Woo-joo, which leaves the other two confused.

That night, Dong-jin and Woo-joo end up working late, and Woo-joo sends him a cold text that doesn’t leave any room for conversation. It is clear that she is trying to avoid him, and he hurriedly calls her and asks her to wait so that he can give her Ji-gu’s things. She is annoyed that he only wants to talk about her brother’s things, though, and probably is expecting him to say something else to him at this point.

Either way, they do go to his apartment, but on the way have a little tiff – she asks him why he is so bothered by her words all of a sudden, and he tells her that he can’t understand why she is suddenly avoiding him. Both look like they are shaking with anticipation, and he asks her whether he did something wrong. Of course, Woo-joo refuses to tell him, and he mentions that they should try to get on like friends.

in the end, a frustrated Dong-jin asks Woo-joo to let Ji-gu get his own things to avoid these issues.

The next day at work, Dae-hong makes a surprise visit to Dong-jin, and he looks excited to see him. On their way to lunch after a fun conversation, a loud-as-ever Sun-woo asks Woo-joo to join them, but Dong-jin shuts that down abruptly, mentioning that they should go alone. It leaves everyone feeling very awkward.

With some alone time in hand, Dae-hong comforts Dong-jin, who tells him that things aren’t that bad at the company anymore. Dae-hong, however, understands that something is amiss and tells him to come and stay with him for some time instead of only working. Dong-jin agrees to do so and even looks pleased.

Unfortunately, though, Woo-joo tells Soo-hee that she won’t be renewing her contract and will leave after the end of the month. She even shoots down a full-time position that Soo-hee provides, which makes the latter confused. Even Dong-jin doesn’t try to hold Woo-joo back, instead letting her do whatever she wants.

Call It Love Episode 9 Ending

That night, a drunk Sung-man finally gets a hold of Min-young. Unfortunately, though, he has a huge rock and is all set to take revenge on her. Woo-joo appears from thin air, however, and asks him to stop so that he doesn’t blow up his own life, but Sung-man throws the rock anyway. When Dong-jin gets to know, he rushes to the hospital, where it is revealed that Woo-joo was the one who took the hit. Min-young assures Dong-jin that she is fine, and he asks her to go home so that he can sit with her.

When she wakes up, she holds his hand as they stare at each other lovingly.

Listen, disregarding that loving stare from the ending, Woo-joo just annoys me to no end. I get it, I get she has a lot of anxiety and rage inside her. But man, can she be so obtuse sometimes. It’s a chore watching her make the same mistake over and over again, thinking everyone will just read her mind. Then she gets angry when they cannot, in fact, read her mind and do exactly what she wants.

Other than her, all the characters remain who they were with no angle to them whatsoever.

Maybe a rock to the face will change the leads, at least, and we will see the storyline move forward instead of going round and round in circles.

Call It Love episode 9 continues to make the leads more infantile. Maybe that ending scene marks some growth for them in upcoming episodes.
