Blue Eye Samurai Ending Explained: Did Mizu Get Her Revenge?

Blue Eye Samurai talks about a samurai called Mizu, who is on a quest for vengeance. The very first time we see him is when he attacks a flesh trader in a soba noodle shop to know from where he got his imported gun. Apparently, the man from whom he got it is the link to the person Mizu is hunting.

Mizu then starts his journey towards Kyoto, but he is not alone as the son of the soba noodle shop owner. Ringo also joins in because he wants Mizu to take him as his apprentice. But Mizu is a lone wolf who has his own set of problems and secrets. The biggest one is the fact that he is masquerading as a man, and she is actually a woman.

Was Mizu successful in killing Abijah Fowler?

Blue Eye Samurai Ending Explained: Did Mizu Get Her Revenge?

Technically no. Mizu was not successful in killing Abijah Fowler. This happens because Abijah is the only person who can take Mizu to her next destination.

Mizu wants to kill not just Abijah but also the two other white men who could be her evil father. This father of hers is the same person who killed her mother and tried to kill Mizu and even left her to be scorned as a half-breed all her life.

But even though Mizu could locate Abijah, the last two amongst her maybe-fathers, Skeffington and Routley, are not easy to capture as there is a chance they reside in London. So, to reach them, she takes Abijah as her prisoner and goes on a journey, most probably to London.

Blue Eye Samurai Ending Explained: Did Mizu Get Her Revenge?

The relationship between Taigen and Akemi was not a very healthy one, as Taigen was more interested in the name, honour and riches that came with Akemi. However, towards the end, Taigen shows his actual desire to leave everything behind and start a new life with Akemi.

But after Akemi witnesses the death of her most beloved and trusted attendant, something changes in her. She understands that she cannot run from her fate and decides to take control of her life in her own hands.

Akemi boldly confesses that she wants to be great, even though Taigen does not, and returns to her husband’s side, who is the second son of the Shogun. She realises that only by staying with her husband can she become powerful and walk towards greatness.

What happened to Ringo?

Blue Eye Samurai Ending Explained: Did Mizu Get Her Revenge?

Ringo had a significant role in stopping Abijah Fowler from taking over all of Japan. He faced Fowler‘s army bravely and protected the royal family. There was even one time when he directly saved Mizu from getting shot by putting a shield in front of her.

Later, we see him standing in front of the burning capital and waiting for Mizu, his master. But she does not arrive, and he most likely thought her to be dead.

He goes to the swordmaster and relays this heartbreaking message, but as a reply, the swordmaster only offers a very pragmatic answer with sadness in his eyes. Either they can wait forever, or they can work. It has been hinted that Ringo might have started assisting the master as his apprentice now that he lost his previous one.
