Agent Kim Reactivated Episode 2 Review
What Stood Out?
Episode 2 has a strong point: its storytelling. Without revealing too much, this episode kept viewers on the edge as different truths emerged, but not enough to make the story feel rushed. The iconic layer we saw is the truth behind Min-ji’s birthday.
Initially, it was shown as if she hated her birthday because it reminded her of her late mother. However, in this episode, we learn that her mother didn’t die giving birth to her. It’s beyond that, and it’s probably why Min-ji feels guilty about celebrating her birthday. Also, it shows the father-daughter relationship in a sensitive manner, loaded with love and guilt.

We also see flashbacks of Agent Kim raising his daughter, which is very effective. Watching her slowly love him back as her father is genuinely touching. These scenes, especially the moment she first called him “dad”, all add up to the plot of his desperation to save her.
Additionally, the episode builds towards the core issue: the kidnapping. What seemed like a normal kidnapping now feels like a well-planned execution, targeting Agent Kim. The fact that Kim has unknowingly become one of the most wanted men on the Korean Peninsula only adds another exciting dimension to the story. The cliffhanger is another major win. Just when viewers think they have a grasp on the situation, the episode drops another twist that leaves plenty of questions.
Cast’s Performance

So Ji-sub is literally carrying the series with such ease. His action scenes and his physical presence are super cool to see. Additionally, his acting during the emotional scenes truly stands out.
One of the episode’s raw moments comes when Agent Kim desperately begs a mere thug to contact his bosses. Rather than portraying an almighty action hero, So Ji-sub allows viewers to see how frightened a father would be. His desperation feels raw and completely authentic.
The younger cast also deserves to be noted. Min-ji may spend much of the episode absent from the main storyline, but the flashbacks make her presence felt throughout. The chemistry between her and Agent Kim helps anchor the emotional side of the series.
Was the Direction Good?

Absolutely. Yes. The direction is clean, and the series has a stylish presentation. The action scenes are raw, exciting and definitely flashy. The emotional scenes seem pretty decent, and they give the viewers a chance to calm down after all the rush hour vibe.
The transitions between present-day investigations and heartfelt flashbacks are particularly well handled, ensuring the emotional beats never interrupt the thriller aspect. The episode also makes clever use of technology and social media, especially when Kim’s viral restaurant fight exposes him to the criminals who are in dire search of him.
Most importantly, the director knows exactly how to end an episode. Once again, the final minutes deliver a perfectly timed cliffhanger that makes waiting for episode 3 with eagerness.

What Felt Off?
There isn’t much to criticise this week. However, the number of villains that are popping up might become too much to handle. I mean, Agent Kim is powerful, but too many villains for him to handle does feel illogical.
Some supporting antagonists still feel more like plot devices than fully developed characters. But given it’s just the second episode, I can’t really flesh out the whole series. Let’s wait a bit more and see how the antagonists are building up.

Wrap Up
Episode 2 proves that Agent Kim Reactivated is far more than a standard action thriller. Beneath the brutal fight scenes and high-speed investigations, we have an emotional storyline waiting to grasp us. By strengthening Agent Kim’s bond with Min-ji while broadening the central mystery, the series continues to raise the tension and keeps the viewers hooked.
If the drama can maintain the balance between mystery and action, I totally get why viewers are easily calling this series one of 2026’s best. With Min-ji’s fate still uncertain and multiple forces closing in on Agent Kim, the next episode is already being anticipated by many.
Agent Kim Reactivated is streaming on Netflix.
