The Sternritter of fear has now set his target upon a different member of the Kuchiki family. Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 6 sees Rukia go up against As Nodt.
Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 6 Overview

What is there to be said about Bleach that hasn’t been said before? It is one of the most popular anime in the West of Japan of all time and is considered a part of the Big Three, a trio of anime widely recognised as having been a part of popularising the medium of anime. The show is back after a hiatus of nine years, as its first run ended in 2013. The newest season of the show is being developed by Studio Pierrot, the studio behind the original series, as well as other giants such as Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul.
The second part of the final arc of Bleach is directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, who has been involved in the productions of Persona 4, The Animation and Twin Star Exorcists, and the series is based on a manga written by Tite Kubo. This episode is also referred to in original Japanese as Bleach Sennen Kessen-hen Ketsubetsu-tan Episode 6 (Bleach Sennen Kessen hen Ketsubetsu tan Episode 6) and Bleach TYBW Part 2 Episode 6. Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 6 Review- The White Haze

Over the past few weeks, a new trailer of the latest adaptation of Junji Ito’s Uzumaki gave the anime world quite a big shock by looking surprisingly decent. For years and years, horror in anime has been the forgotten and forsaken genre. Everyone just seemed to agree that despite some standout titles here and there, the medium just isn’t very well suited for the intricacies of the genre. Despite how popular artists like Junji Ito are in the medium of Manga, it somehow never translated to the far more mainstream medium of anime.

Because of all this, when something truly scary and unnerving comes out of the medium of anime, it is seen as the exception that proves the rule. Leaving this discussion to be continued at another time, we have another exception to add to the “anime can’t do horror” rule: the latest episode of Thousand Year Blood War. What we just witnessed might be my favourite thing to happen in Bleach since Episode 6 of part 1 of Thousand Year Blood War, which featured Yamamoto’s fight against Yhwach. It is only fair that the coldest Bankai came close to matching the hottest one.

As Nodt had been one of the most intriguing Sternritters ever since his introduction. His aura had been established by him not uttering a word as he demolished one of the strongest captains we knew, Byakuya, leaving him closer to death than anyone had perhaps been in this series. However, that is not the As Nodt we saw in this episode. We saw the embodiment of fear, who seemed actually capable of embuing fear into everyone who came onto his path.

His pre-fight speech about fear was also written extremely well, describing how common fear actually is among everyone alive. Rukia’s part in the battle also seemed a lot more natural than Renji’s, and the progression of her battling skills had a logic to it, also unlike Renji’s arm extensions giving him infinite durability. It also helped that Rukia could have lost the battle at any given moment, given that she hasn’t ever been known as the strongest fighter. That added a lot of uncertainty and stakes to the battle, enhancing it greatly.

We also saw much more of Ichigo in this episode, and it seems like Ichigo now understands and embraces what he means to the Soul Society- he is a ray of hope. No matter how bad things get and how many people die, as long as the Soul Society has Ichigo, they have a fighting chance against anyone standing in front of their way. Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 6 saw us getting closer than ever to Ichigo’s true destination, though what lies at the end of his journey is still a mystery.
Verdict
Bleach Thousand Year Blood War Part 2 Episode 6 was a tremendous feat in horror worldbuilding and storytelling, featuring the absolute best of what the show has to offer in months.
