Akka Series Ending Explained
What Was Rudra’s Motivation?
From the first episode, viewers are given a rundown on Rudra – a fierce woman who wants to take down Pernuru at any cost. It’s clear that she’s related to the clan in some way and is driven by vengeance, but we learn the truth as the series progresses. Rudra’s mother was banished from her home after she fell in love with Mutthakka’s brother, whom she was forbidden to marry. Although they shared two children, he was still denied a life with the woman she loved and that drove him to suicide.
Unable to accept this turn of events, Muttakka decided to hold Rudra’s mother responsible, but by then, she had fled her home, leaving behind her son, Nanda. Mutthakka gave Nanda a home, but Rudra continued to burn in rage at the unfair turn of events and the life that was taken from her. Although she denies that her motivations are not about revenge, it’s clear that she is unhappy with the unfair control that Melemar has over the other clans, and thus she wanted to see their end, especially Mutthakka’s end.

This proves that, regardless of who is on the throne, the thirst for power can override rational thought and the desperate need to see one’s traditions followed; people will go to any lengths. This injustice leaves deep marks in those who have been wronged, and people must pay the consequences of their choices.
Do the Melemar Clan Survive?
In Akka episode 4, we see Rudra unleashing an ultimate battle that leaves the entire Melemar clan weakened. She uses the men who have felt betrayed by the clan’s women to murder everyone in the clan, leaving only Bhavani and Devaki alive. Heartbroken and left with a renewed sense of hatred and anger, Bhavani promises revenge and to restore the clan’s dignity once more, while realising that the mistakes made by her ancestors also have a hand in how the situation turned out.

What Happens in the Final Showdown Between Bhavani and Rudra?
In the final showdown, Rudra arrives with Amar and his men to lay claim to the empty Melemar house. Unfortunately for her, Bhavani had realised the importance of keeping her sister clans close and had previously remade their pact with the Kathawa clan, who had initially been betrayed by Mutthakka, and eventually ended everyone. In the final showdown between Bhavani and Rudra, the latter establishes that she has different ideas of what winning means and that Bhavani can’t grasp what is coming her way. It sets up the story for a bigger danger for Bhavani to face, while Rudra ingests poison and ends her life.
The turn of events is shocking and ends the rivalry a bit too early. While the series takes a lot of time to set up this showdown, the end comes a bit too early and quickly for the tension to leave a lasting impact.

What Does the Akka Ending Mean?
Akka‘s ending sees Bhavani threatening to destroy Mahesh Manjrekar’s Shankar Anna for daring to cross into her territory. Shankar Anna, meanwhile, looks ready for the battle, since it turns out that he’s her father. The revelation can turn the story upside down if Akka Season 2 arrives, as we will witness a father and daughter fighting against one another in a battle for power and revenge.
The ending, ultimately, reinforces the series’ central themes of loyalty, power and legacy. Throughout the series, we see how decisions can shape the fate of the world that people inhabit, a situation that Bhavani has decided to rectify after learning from her previous generations. However, we are also made witnesses to understand what these words truly mean and whether it makes sense to put everything at stake to protect the legacy.

The ending also puts into question the cycle of violence and betrayal, something that we might get to see further between Bhavani and Shankar Anna. While their relationship is left unexplored till now, there may be nuanced reasons that can turn something like this on its head. Will Bhavani see a different side to Mutthakka that has been kept from her all these years? Only time will tell!
