Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 9 Overview
One of the most popular anime of our time, Demon Slayer, is back on our screens with the Swordsmith Village Arc. The newest series follows the 11-episode Season 2 of the show, which you can read all about here. The arc follows Tanjiro as he makes a trip to the swordsmith village to discover why the sword creator won’t remake his sword and meets something mysterious while there. Ufotable is the studio behind Demon Slayer’s anime adaptation, and Haruo Sotozaki will direct the series. It is to be noted that only the first episode was a double-length episode, followed by standard episodes in the future. You can read our review of the Mugen Train movie while you’re at it. Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba Season 3 Episode 9 Review- Mist Hashira: Muichiro Tokito
Just so we are clear, this is not a complaint. Seeing a good demolition of a villain is one of the best things about watching an anime like Demon Slayer, as the satisfaction of watching the embodiment of evil and chaos get absolutely bodied by a literal teenager never gets old. Thus, when I say that the power scaling in Demon Slayer has gotten absolutely bonkers between the previous season and this one, you know it comes from a place of love.

This is a story where a Hashira, or pillar, died where he stood while fighting an upper Demon Moon. Rengoku wasn’t weak, and if you say anything to the contrary, you have been watching a different show than me. In the same vein, Tengen Uzui had to sacrifice life and limb to try and get rid of the sixth-ranked demon, and he had the help of Tanjiro, Inosuke, and (barely) Zenitsu. Upper Demon Moons are supposed to be humongous threats, the kind Demon Slayers have feared for centuries before this.
I promise this has a point, but I’ll have to spoil something that happens halfway through the episode to get to that. Skip the rest of this paragraph if you would like to avoid that. The youngest Hashira and the one with the least amount of experience fighting a demon just slaughtered one of the Upper Moons, and it was absolutely fantastic to see the demon get destroyed. However, Tokito’s ability to do that could mean one of a few things- that he’s stronger than most Hashira, this demon was somehow weaker than number 6, or that the power scaling in this show has gone bonkers.

The fact that tells me the final prediction would be the accurate one is what happened later on in Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Episode 9, something which has already been spoiled in the opening credits. As Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya are getting the absolute tar beaten out of them by another Demon Moon, they get assistance from someone who hasn’t done much this entire season – Mitsuri Kanroji. Despite that fact, she is without a doubt my favourite character introduced in this season, and her being so cutesy and lovey-dovey while having the ability to kick some serious ass is phenomenal.
Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 9 was amazing in every way. The way the fight between Tokito and Upper Five was crafted as two immature people trying to one-up each other was great, and the systematic dismantling of the demon even more so. The terror that Tanjiro and the gang were facing was also depicted very well, and a normal human being would die with one-tenth of the damage Tanjiro has taken. The animation and music were on point, as usual, and made for a very fuck experience.
Verdict
Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 9 was a highly entertaining episode that featured two Hashiras doing justice to their title and beating some demons to a pulp. All in good fun, of course.
