What happened after Subaru located the dead body of Meili?

Subaru completely panicked after he found out that most likely he’s the one who killed Meili. This was something that was very unexpected, as he does not remember doing anything to her. Thus, to get to the bottom of this, he hides her body and goes outside only to be confronted by Emilia.

What does Subaru talk to Emilia about?

Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 10 Review

Subaru’s talk with Emilia highlighted the complex and deep relationship between them. Even though Subaru tried to portray that nothing was wrong, Emilia right away realises that something is definitely going on. She also asked him whether he would like to tell her because she would listen to him without any bias. And for a moment, it looked like Subaru would say something to the woman he once loved. However, just at that moment, Ram comes to call them.

What did Ram want with them?

The crew find out that there is already a book on Meili confirming the fact that she has died. This shocks everyone, and Subaru decides to read the book to find out what actually happened to her. Through his eyes, we also look at her life and how she was raised. Apparently, when she opened her eyes, she did not know anyone, as she was abandoned among the beasts. They raised her, and then one day Elsa came to take her away.

Did Meili like Elsa?

No, Meili did not like Elsa at all, as she’s the one who separated her from her family of beasts. She is also the one who forced Meili to do things that she did not want to. Thus, she just tolerated Elsa because there was no other choice offered to her. When Elsa died, Meili finally became her own self and started to rely more on Subaru.

What does Subaru do to Meili?

Re:ZERO Season 4 Episode 10 Review

Subaru takes Meili to the place where he then kills her. However, it is important to note that it is not the Subaru that we know that does that. It is very apparent that a different soul is acting within him. Not only that, but after he comes back from her book, he starts to see a ghost of Meili, who is most likely not even her original soul.

What does Subaru do in the end?

Subaru starts seeing Meili’s ghost more often, and kind of gets crazier. He starts to think about killing others so that he can take a look at their books and understand whether they planned to betray him or not. Towards the end, he even wanted to kill Beatrice. However, what shocks us is when Ram confronts Subaru at a very bad time. Could this Subaru really commit the heinous crime he thought about? That is something we would have to find out.

What worked and what did not work?

This episode was another psychological masterpiece, and I absolutely loved it. I did not really expect how much more psychologically twisted this series can get, and they have actually managed to do that. Now, I’m just dying to know what will happen in the next episode and who is doing this to Subaru.
