The official Netflix description of the movie reads as follows:

Six high schoolers stuck in a murderous time loop must find the scattered remains of an unknown victim to break the curse and finally see another day.

Re/member Ending Explained

The group of teens successfully retrieved the scattered body remains of the victim except for the last part, the severed head. During an unplanned expedition, the group investigates more about the victim by visiting the house she resided in. They found the doll, Emily, that the victim carried around. Eventually, they deduced that the ‘Red Person’ also carried around the same doll. However, the doll suddenly vanished in thin air, and the group managed to escape safely from the area.

What happened to Emily?

The next day, as the clock struck 12, everyone returned to the school chapel. Another monster evolved behind the curtain as they planned to find the severed head. It started to grow bigger, and the group began to run for their lives, but they were too late. The monster was none other than Emily, the doll. Four students were killed during the fight with the supernatural entity, and Rei was devoured by it. Asuka tried to escape but fell from the top floor and died.

When they reached the school in the morning, Rei was nowhere to be found. Upon interrogating the other students, they responded with confused reactions as they could not recognise the student. Asuka then concludes that Rei’s existence was completely erased after getting eaten by Emily.

Where was the head?

The group tried to decipher the location of the last remaining body part, but every effort went in vain. Asuka suggested that the victim’s head might have been placed in the doll’s head; she concluded after observing that the head of the doll drowned faster than the rest of its body in the swimming pool, proving that something resided inside it. The group accordingly planned to capture the monster and take the head out.

Was Asuka able to break the curse?

An intense fight between Emily and the students took place. One by one, each student lost their life at the hands of the monster. However, Takahiro was victorious in cutting open the doll’s head and retrieving the victim’s severed head. As Asuka and Takahiro ran towards placing the last piece of the puzzle, the monster appeared again. Takahiro gave up his life to save Asuka and help her complete the task, but the monster also came after her. However, she defeated it, and a gigantic crucifix pierced the doll’s body, eventually killing it. Asuka placed the head on the coffin, and normalcy was finally retained.

How did Takahiro remember Asuka?

Asuka arrived at the school the next day, and everything remained the same as before ‘The Body Search’. None of the other teens acknowledged her, and she continued to be an outcast. However, she and the other five group members were selected to volunteer during a class lottery. As the group was walking towards the location, she accidentally dropped the badge from her pocket that Takahiro had given her during their conversation. He picked it up and suddenly remembered every detail about the past incidents and his promise to Asuka.
