When is Dear David Releasing? All About Netflix’s Coming-of-Age Tale of Self-Approval

Dear David is an upcoming Indonesian movie that will be premiering on Netflix. Directed by Lucky Kuswandi and written by Winnie Benjamin alongside Daud Sumolang and Muhammad Zaidy, the movie surrounds a student and her journey of self-acceptance. Meiske Taurisia and Muhammad Zaidy are the producers.

The cinematographer of the film is Robert Cauble, and Maksal Mina gives the music. The movie is of the comedy genre, along with emotional and dramatic elements. With a total runtime of approximately 120 minutes, the film will be available in Indonesian with English subtitles.

Shenina Cinnamon as Laras takes up the lead role in the movie, and this is her first appearance in a movie since her performance in the romantic teen drama Cross The Line in 2022. Emir Mahira plays the titular character David, the love interest of Laras. Caitlin North Lewis and Michael James will also be joining the ensemble cast.

A straight-A high schooler’s life is turned upside down when her risqué fantasy blog about her crush is leaked to everyone at school.

Laras is a simple student with a high-school crush, but she lacks the self-confidence to express her emotions freely. The trailer shows how her world shifts from reality to fantasy. In her dream world, she is full of self-esteem and has a dominant personality. She is unafraid to display her innate intimate desires in front of the person she fears the most in real life, David.
