Glitch Teaser: “Genre-Bending” K Drama that Introduces an Intergalactic Threat

Netflix has released the first official teaser of the upcoming thrilling mystery K-drama series Glitch coming out in October. The show has been directed by Roh Deok and will be starring Jeon Yeo-Been and NANA as the two leading women of the series.

The teaser was unveiled a few hours ago and it shows our main character, Hong Ji-Hyo, in peril as she embarks on an adventure to look for her missing boyfriend. Her life doesn’t offer the same stability as before, and though she goes by the belief that “the only thing she need(s) to believe in is (herself)”, the strange occurrences or the glitches happening around her are making her have second thoughts.

And that’s when she joins forces with Heo Bo-Ra, one of the UFO watchers, who tells her to accept the fact that “aliens abducted (her) boyfriend”. They chase a series of clues to uncover the mystery but the things happening around them shift their perception of everything, making it even harder to believe it all.

The official Netflix synopsis of the Korean series reads:

A young woman joins forces with a UFO enthusiast to investigate her boyfriend’s sudden disappearance and stumbles into a wild conspiracy.

While the teaser does present a colossal alien-shaped entity on the streets of the city, we still don’t if this is just bait or if aliens actually exist in the K-drama. Other than that, a cult gathering is also showcased in the 1 min long teaser, wherein a person is seen levitating themself while the crowd chants “Sella” in unison. Not much has been revealed yet but that is exactly the kind of tactic one should go for to pull in the audience’s interest.

The show in discussion is definitely a departure from the ongoing romantic comedies that have found a constant and loyal viewership across the world. Glitch is set to switch gears with its peculiar and much-concealed plot.

What does the conspiracy at hand mean? Who took Ji-Hyo’s boyfriend? Are aliens the actual perpetrators in this case? Watch the upcoming K-drama series on Netflix to find all the answers to these questions.
