Netflix’s Scrooge A Christmas Carol First Stills Look Spectacular

Netflix has released the first stills from the film Scrooge A Christmas Carol. It is an animated rendition based on the classic of the same name, written by Charles Dickens. The film will be directed by Stephen Donnelly and the official post on social media revealed its stellar cast who will be voicing the characters.

The voice talents include Luke Evans as Scrooge, a disgruntled old man who has his Christmas spirit reinvigorated after a supernatural visit from different versions of himself, Olivia Colman as Past, Jessie Buckley as Isabel Fezziwig, Johnny Flynn as Bob Cratchit, Jonathan Pryce as Jacob Marley, and many others who are yet to be revealed.

Scrooge A Christmas Carol will show Charles Dickens’ ageless legend which is reborn in this supernatural, time-travelling, musical adaptation of the definitive Christmas story. With his very soul on the line, Scrooge has but one Christmas Eve left to face his past and build a better future. It will also be featuring reimagined songs from the legendary and two-time Academy Award winner Leslie Bricusse OBE.

The film is the latest of numerous iterations of the famous Christmas story. Over the years many live-action and animated series have been created, based on the novel. The story follows the events of one cold Christmas Eve, where a man named Scrooge is unkind to the people who work for him, refuses to give to charity, and is rude to his nephew when he invites him to spend Christmas with him.

When Scrooge gets home, he is visited by the ghost of his old business partner Jacob Marley – and then by three ghosts. Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past takes Scrooge on a journey through Christmases from his past, to see himself as an unhappy child.

To the Ghost of Christmas Present shows his clerk, Bob Cratchit’s family and then takes him to see his nephew Fred’s Christmas celebrations, which he had been invited to but rebuffed. The Ghost of Christmas Future terrifies Scrooge by showing him visions of his own death.

The ghost’s journey through time teaches Scrooge the error of his ways. When he wakes up on Christmas Day he tries to rectify his mistakes and spend the magical day full of the joys of Christmas. The film will be released in December of this year on Netflix.
