Love Of Kill Episode 4 Overview
Love Of Kill, or Koroshi Ai as it is known in original Japanese, is an action and romance anime that’s airing as part of the Winter Anime 2022 season. It is an adaptation of a Manga of the same name written by author Fe and is being adapted for the medium by the studio Platinum Vision. Platinum Vision has made several action and romance anime in its past, including Servamp and Devil’s Line.
The anime is being directed by Hideaki Ooba, a veteran of the industry who has been involved with the productions of D.Gray Man and Hunter X Hunter Greed Island. This episode of the show is also referred to as Koroshi Ai Episode 4. You can read our review of the previous episode in the series here.

Love Of Kill Episode 4 Review- A Great Backstory
It is always a great time when an anime that you’re not feeling and enjoying that much is able to deliver a promising outing out of nowhere, which not only manages to pull the ‘one foot out of the door’ audience back in but also set up its future episodes with a ton of potential. A once fading franchise feels like it has a new lease of life, and while no one would reasonably start calling the show good after a singular episode, it is still a promising start.

Such was the case for the latest episode of Love of Kill, as the show managed to pull out something great out of the bag for once. There was a pertinent sense of danger throughout the episode’s runtime, something that the show has been attempting from the start but hasn’t been able to perfect. The story was also great, picking up from the events of last week’s ending and preview. We take a look at what happened in Chateau’s childhood.
Meeting Chateau’s parents was a pleasant experience that came out of nowhere and became the best part of the show so far. The entire thread about how they met her and got involved with her life was incredibly sweet and even sweeter was her as a child. As someone who doesn’t like child characters in any form of media, young Chateau was written perfectly and portrayed immaculately. She wasn’t annoying or needy and just came across as cute and vulnerable.

The entire situation was mysterious and sinister in just the right amounts, and then the reveal about the dead kid inside the car was incredibly effective. The show was begging for something like this to happen since the very first episode, but Love Of Kill Episode 4 was the first time it managed to get the tone just right to deliver the right amount of shock and action. Not only did it tell a compelling story, but a few dangling threads or weird decisions from the first three episodes also make a little more sense with this reveal.
The episode wasn’t just the backstory, and the other parts of it were also as engaging and entertaining as the show has ever been. There were the usual amount of not-very-well animated action scenes to go along with the plot, but those were also done reasonably well and didn’t leave much room to complain. The music also sounded great as the opening and ending themes are finally growing up on me. Overall, this was a solid outing that blew everything else the show has done out of the water.
Verdict
Love Of Kill Episode 4 was the show’s best outing yet and demonstrated the true potential of the show’s concept that it hadn’t been able to up to this point. We can just hope that this good form continues.
