Love Of Kill Episode 3 Review- Not Feeling It

Song Chateau Love Of Kill Episode 3

If this series was your introduction to the medium of seinen animation, you haven’t exactly seen the best of the genre. While media for adults is generally supposed to be refined and thought-provoking, if not filled with existential crises or other problems that only people who have had the misfortune of growing up have experienced. You will get none of that here. What you will get is a deathly boring 22 minutes of television each and every week that’ll fail to accomplish anything of note, least of all entertain.

This show tries to be many things and fails to be good at any of them. It is not a good love story since it thrust the protagonists into an awkward companionship that has failed to be anything but uncomfortable for both parties as of episode three. It is not a good action show since there is barely any action in it, and the little that there is doesn’t look very good. It is not a good spy or assassin show since it hasn’t even touched those elements yet.

It can’t be understated how boring this show is. There is nothing of note happening on the screen for more than 90% of the screen time, and the other 10% isn’t all that great either. Most of it is dedicated to developing the relationship between the two main characters, but since they don’t have any chemistry together, all that time is wasted. If you don’t care about their relationship, you will find it hard to care about the show.

The latest episode was the show’s worst outing so far. The comedy motif was didn’t work very well here, especially since the two participants have as much in common as an ant and a Ferrari. The show keeps hinting towards there being something significant that happened when the pair was kids, but we have yet to reach anywhere so far. Granted, there are a lot more episodes left for them to showcase the exact scenario. However, the show and its plot aren’t getting anywhere until that happens.

We went into Song’s past for a little while in Love Of Kill Episode 3, and it was very dull. Murder gangs are supposed to be scary and interesting, the opposite of the direction the show decided to venture in. It didn’t tell us anything that we didn’t already know about Song, and the less said about Chateau, the better. Her “hard girl” schtick doesn’t make the awkward shyness that arises due to Song washing her clothes any less cringeworthy. This show has definitely seen better days, and I hope that this is the worst that it can get.

Verdict

Love Of Kill Episode 3 was a disappointment in every sense of the word. It was boring, illogical, and worst of all, a detriment to its own cause.
