The Ingenuity of the Househusband is a live-action TV series of The Way of the Househusband starring Kenjirô Tsuda. The series came out with 5 more episodes, so season 1 has 10 episodes, each around 5 minutes long.

Considering Netflix’s description of the series, The Ingenuity of the Househusband does not feature a “tough guy” like Tatsu. Tsuda almost looks too cute to fit into the role of a tough yakuza boss. But then again, I am confused whether this is supposed to be a reflection of the anime series or not.
Either way, the 5 additional episodes that the series has come out with is similar to the previous 5 in the sense that they feel like a PSA. However, this time around, we understand that Tsuda, in an effort to portray Tatsu’s character, understands the challenges of housework. So, he’s not Tatsu here, this isn’t a live-action remake of the anime. So, what is it? I guess it’s how the role of Tatsu affected him.

Either way with 5-6 minute long episodes, The Ingenuity of the Househusband is short enough to be enjoyed by those who have watched the anime and are a fan of Tsuda’s voice acting. His acting is actually pretty great and the way he keeps a straight face while trying to be tough while doing housework has its charms. However, his acting is much more mellow and calm than Tatsu’s extreme extra behaviour.
You will enjoy The Ingenuity of the Househusband if you know what you’re getting into. If your expectations are well adjusted then this is a fun show to breeze through.

The Ingenuity of the Househusband part 2, with 5 additional episodes, has its charm. It’s especially nice to watch Tsuda prepping for the role of Tatsu. Either way, with episodes around 3 minutes long, it’s a fun watch, albeit a bit confusing sometimes.
