The main storyline of the current arc of My Hero Academia continues with My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17 when Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki continue their internship under Endeavour. Let’s find out how it all panned out in this review.

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17- Overview

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17 Title Card

If you haven’t at least heard of My Hero Academia, I hope that the rock that you’re living under provides plenty of space and sunlight for a healthy living. My Hero Academia, or Boku No Hero Academia if you want to be all proper about it, is one of the most popular anime going on right now. If you were to believe Livechart, it is this season’s most popular anime. All that is for a good reason, the show is fantastic.

My Hero Academia is based on the manga series of the same name by Kouhei Horikoshi, and the anime is produced by Studio Bones, a studio that is counted among the absolute top tier of all anime studios. Studio Bones is also known for working on anime like Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and Mob Psycho, so you know that My Hero Academia is in outstanding company. My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17- Plot and Characters

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17 Characters

To be honest, from the start of this episode up to the middle, I had begun to think this was also going to be a useless, filler episode. There was barely 3 minutes of new footage in the starting 12 minutes of the show, the rest of it being flashbacks. I thought that we had been bamboozled, hoodwinked, and led astray by the creators again. Oh, how wrong I was.

From the start of the show, I have had an emotional connection with its core. The emotional beats the show manages to hit get me in the feels every time, almost without fail. This episode wasn’t an exception, and I’m happy that there is at least one episode this season that made me feel like this.

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17 Plot

The flashbacks that it aired, while excessive, all formed a beautiful crescendo by the end of the episode. The pain that Endeavour and the Todoroki family were feeling was presented quite carefully and did what it was supposed to. Izuku and Bakugo being hapless bystanders to the family drama were quite funny at times and a major catalyst for what happened at the end. The greatest asset to My Hero Academia is the strength of its characters, and they came out full force in My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17.

While the story is still moving at the glacial pace that it has since the beginning of Season 5, the places it has gone have been more than acceptable. A major mystery seems to be getting resolved in the next few episodes, which is certainly exciting. Overall, a bad start, but an excellent ending to My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17.

My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17- Art and Music

Nothing much to say here. There wasn’t anything remarkable happening in the show in these two departments, although the emotional beats of the episode were captured quite beautifully by the music. The animation also stood out in some of the more humorous moments. It is My Hero Academia, folks. The animation and music being great should come as a surprise to no one.

Verdict

Toya Todoroki

A great, emotional ending to an otherwise lacklustre episode, My Hero Academia Season 5 Episode 17 turned out to be more or less the same as I was expecting. The emotional core carried the episode, with the comedic side helping out from the side. Also, for the love of all that is holy, stop with the flashbacks. I am getting sick of them.
