At the core of the show is the relationship between FBI special investigator Will Graham and psychiatrist, Dr. Hannibal Lecter and how they become each other’s confidante and enemy at the same time.

Black Bird
A miniseries based on the 2010 autobiographical novel In with the Devil: a Fallen Hero, a Serial Killer, and a Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene and Hillel Levin, this show is an insightful and amazing show to binge-watch. We have Jimmy Keene who is sentenced to 10 years in prison but, cracks a unique deal that requires him to get a confession from suspected killer Larry Hall that will ensure his freedom.
Although not in a client-counsellor setting, the deep and interesting conversations shared at the core of the series are something very similar to the FX’s show. It is now streaming on Apple TV+.
Barry
Another show that is a deviation from the client-counsellor setting but falls perfectly in this list is Barry– a black crime comedy created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader. We have the titular character, who kills to earn a living but, finds joy in the world of acting and wants to change his ways but, finds it difficult to leave his old life behind. Bill Hader plays the titular role in this series with perfection which is now streaming on HBO Max.
