South Korea Halloween Stampede: Celebrities Share Condolences as Death Toll Rises

With the onset of Halloween, we have rather cruel news making its way to our screens. The recent South Korea Halloween Stampede screams of horror with several dead and many more injured.

On October 29, after two years of Halloween spent in confinement due to COVID, the crowd at Itaewon rejoiced as they set to celebrate All Saints’ Eve. However, near a narrow alley around Hamilton Hotel, things took a different turn with a Stampede emerging out of the blue. Right around midnight a lot of people fell unconscious due to the ongoing stampede and concerned authorities were alerted about the mishap taking place.

From the fire department to the police to the common people horror took over everyone and they attempted to resuscitate a lot of people. Graphic videos of the chaos have been shared all over social media. In fact, the sad news has really hit hard and many Korean celebrities have cancelled their events and parties and also shared their condolences.

The release of BTS’ Jin’s Stationhead Listening Party and the lyrical video for Astronaut has been indefinitely postponed. SM Entertainment’s SMTown Wonderland which was scheduled to happen on October 30th has also been cancelled due to the tragedy. The agency is responsible for managing big Korean stars such as Aespa, EXO, Red Velvet and NCT. Tomorrow X Together’s dance practice video Eternally was also scheduled to release on October 30 and has now been cancelled.

The Drivetime host, Sam Hammington expressed his condolences to the families affected by this incident. Actor Hong Seok-cheon also shared the same on his Instagram profile.

Starring in the K-pop: The Musical, Luna, who is currently in NYC also took to her Instagram stories honouring the dead.

Presently, with several reports out, the death toll has risen to 151 with many other injured in the stampede.

At this point, we express our deepest condolences to the families of the lost and affected and pray for the rest of Itaewon to recover.
