Zenshu Episode 1 Recap

This anime begins with the introduction of Natsuko, an accomplished animator and anime director. Her debut series was a massive success, but she now struggles with her latest romantic comedy project due to her lack of experience and interest in romance. Her introverted nature and unhealthy habits ultimately lead to her untimely death, after which she finds herself reincarnated into the world of an animated series called A Tale of Perishing. While the series was a flop, it was the very inspiration behind her dream of becoming an animator.

In this new world, Natsuko must adapt to her circumstances while navigating a land filled with monsters and characters who are far from welcoming. Although she has the advantage of knowing the storyline, her expectations are quickly subverted as the characters behave differently than she anticipated. For example, Luke, the protagonist of this world, denies her food and taunts her by eating in front of her while she remains hungry.
Initially, this anime is thought to explore the harsh realities of working in the animation industry. Instead, it unfolds as an adventure/Isekai where Natsuko is thrust into a new world with unique powers. She becomes able to summon her work table and even summon creatures from her imagination.
Zenshu Episode 2 Review

Now that Natsuko is in the anime world, things have become a lot more complicated for her. After she showcases her powers and saves her favorite characters, she goes straight to sleep, from which she wakes up after 3 days. Thankfully, Luke was there to feed her and keep the conversation going for us, Natsuko and Luke, to understand each other’s situation.
Luke can not make sense of anything Natsuko is saying as she keeps commenting on how she is from the real world. She also mentions ‘animators’ who Luke thinks are wizards. He also becomes quite shocked to find out how she knows a lot more about him and other heroes. They also find that Natsuko can not willingly summon her powers, and she reveals that her animator tool can speak. Apparently, it was the one who told her to draw it when she found herself under attack.

After this, they get summoned by the mayor and the prophet, who ask Natsuko questions but also profess their wish for Natsuko to join the Nine Soldiers. Luke heavily goes against this decision and even openly claims to hate girls. However, one thing leads to another, and Natsuko again lands herself in a huge issue in this world. We also find out more about her powers and the creatures that come to hinder the world of A Tale of Perishing.

This anime is a nicely animated series that delivers a pretty promising visual experience. But, at the same time, the plot is a very generic Isekai where an otherworlder finds themselves in another setup and must adapt to their situation. The pace is decent, and it is entertaining to watch Natsuko go through a mahou shoujo like transformation. There is also a hint of an upcoming romance, but it is not confirmed yet.
Verdict

I like this anime, as it is funny, engaging, and has decent action when it is needed. But I do not think it will have any major storyline shifts, and believe everything should remain pretty plain. So, if a generic Isekai with good animation and some interesting characters is your cup of tea, watch this.
