In a conversation, they look back at how they first met and wonder how they have maintained the relationship for so long.

Debbie is a single mother who has sacrificed most of her life for her beloved son. Peter offers help to look after the teen so she can have a week to herself and pursue her dreams. However, it is not an easy task to take care of a teenager, but Peter manages to create a healthy bond with the child.

Meanwhile, Debbie, for the first time in her life, is free and ready to explore the world. She reaches New York and meets up with her long-time old friend. Eventually, she also encounters a man in a bar and develops feelings for him. Things soon start to get complicated thereafter.
