The latest chapter in Tyler Perry’s drama universe has been released, and viewers on X are experiencing the film in wildly different emotional states: some are crying; some giving a 10/10; some questioning the script, the number of characters, and length of conversations; and then there are those who come to a very specific thought of Taraji P. Henson’s character being too real.

That seems where much of the conversation has landed.

Taraji P Henson Is Hitting a Nerve

One of the clearest reactions to Why Did I Get Married Again? Is about how uncomfortably familiar some of the emotional situations feel.

X user @_RellyRel wrote that Taraji’s role represents the life of mother that live today, further writing, “It’s sad to see the parent who is protecting the other parent and child get all the backlash.“

Another user, @QuentinTHarris, admitted that Taraji’s character spoke to him “from many angles”.

That is perhaps the more interesting thing about the conversation around the movie because people seem to find pieces of themselves inside the film itself. Tyler Perry’s movies can be messy, melodramatic, and throw many emotional crises into one big conversation, but every now and then, buried under the chaos is a line or character that makes people find something resonating.

X Is Very Divided on the Movie

X has not given a unanimous verdict for the movie: some viewers love it, some do not.

@Bren_Marie87 gave Why Did I Get Married Again? a 10/10, saying the movie made them laugh and cry.

One side of X has also arrived not liking the movie. User @Gregpuna seemed far less forgiving, calling the movie a miss and wrote, “Movie sucked. Weak script. Too many characters. Scenes were too long. Can’t understand why they would still be friends with Mike.“

X post translated from French by user @DrEnzoLarissa called the movie “lame” and gave it 1.5/10 while writing, “Why did I get married again: 1.5/10. And that’s just because Tasha is very beautiful and the sets are too. Lame lame lame!!!”

So the spectrum is really from 10/10 to 1.5/10.

Is There Too Much?

Interestingly, even some of the positive reactions hint at the same issue that the negative reviews openly complain about: a lot going on.
