Ae-sun and her family move into a small apartment after selling their house to fund Geum-myeong’s studies, but things aren’t as easy with everything that they have. Gwan-sik notices Ae-sun’s mood and tries to make things better by decorating their room with a flower wallpaper which makes her laugh as she tells of her good fortune for having him in her life. Meanwhile, the three Haenyeo women opened the shop Ae-sun was going to open with them while she went back to opening her street stall right outside their store with their permission. As time passes once again, life goes back on track as Ae-sun rents a room in Seoul while her parents continue to live in the apartment. But trouble soon comes knocking their way when their son Yang Eun-myeong is found hiding his girlfriend in his room and it is none other than Bu Sang-gil’s daughter. Gwan-sik’s mother finally gets her time of laughter seeing Ae-sun think about her son while she taunts her how her son is soon going to be taken away by Sang-gil’s daughter.

When Life Gives You Tangerines Episode 9 Review

Starting the week with a lighter episode that forms the foundation for this week’s twists and turns, this episode didn’t have any drastic changes taking place for now. However, the warm feelings never cease despite the lightness of the episode as we see Ae-sun and Gwan-sik melting our hearts once again. The love between them keeps blooming more and more with each passing episode and we cannot stop ourselves from loving them every week.

Meanwhile, we see the changing times and the concept of love appearing slowly through the next generation through the Yang siblings. Especially, through Geum-myeong’s storyline where we see her relationship starting to go through a serious period while her colleague’s relationship shows the fragility of love. We are soon to see many sides of love in the upcoming episodes and what it takes to keep a relationship strong; showing us not just the changing feelings within people but also the change that comes with the new generation.

I absolutely love how well this show captures these emotions in the simplest ways; never failing to truly bring out the change that has happened.

Finally, the highlight of this episode has to be Yang Eun-myeong’s relationship with Bu Sang-gil’s daughter. The way this relationship came about and how it progressed is something that could stop me from laughing and I’m looking forward to seeing more of this couple too.
