The allure of countryside romance is a beloved theme for many K-drama enthusiasts, offering a soothing viewing experience akin to Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. When you pair it with the best actors, it becomes the cherry on top. Ji Chang-wook’s recent portrayal in The Worst of Evil showcased his captivating action role, but witnessing him in a romantic drama is always a delightful treat.
In the trailer, we follow Cho Sam-dal, portrayed by Shin Hye-sun, as she returns to her hometown of Jeju Island following the loss of her job as a photographer. She shares the crucial advice given to new haenyeos (female divers who harvest sea life), emphasising the importance of not pushing too hard and staying mindful of their breath. When they can’t hold their breath any longer, surfacing is necessary for recovery.
Seeking solace after her setback, Cho Sam-dal endeavours to regain her balance and reconnect with herself in her familiar surroundings. Determined to rediscover her true essence, she finds guidance from Jo Yong-pil, played by Ji Chang-wook, a weather forecaster who protects the town’s elders, many of whom are haenyeos, and her friends. He motivates her to start anew, not as the photographer Cho Sam-dal, but as her genuine self. As he supports her in this journey of self-discovery, their forgotten affection rekindles.
