Virat Kohli, the former captain of the India national cricket team, who is currently in Australia for the T20 World Cup, shared a harrowing incident and slammed a fan who broke into his hotel room. On Monday the Indian cricket took to Instagram to share what had happened to him in Perth and expressed his concern with fuming anger over fanaticism.
Kohli wrote in his Instagram post, “I understand that fans get very happy and excited seeing their favourite players and get excited to meet them and I’ve always appreciated that. But this video here is appalling and it’s made me feel very paranoid about my privacy.”
“If I cannot have privacy in my own hotel room, then where can I really expect any personal space at all?? I’m NOT okay with this kind of fanaticism and absolute invasion of privacy. Please respect people’s privacy and not treat them as a commodity for entertainment,” he added.

His post was also shared by his wife and actress Anushka Sharma, who posted on her stories and wrote that she has also experienced a few incidences, where fans showed no compassion or grace. But this incident of breaking in is the worst thing. She further condemned people who usually comment that celebrities have to endure this breach of privacy, saying, “you are part of the problem.”

She raises the question of ‘where is the line?’ if people start barging into your supposed bedroom. While Virat Kohli’s post has also garnered support from various celebrities and people who are assuming that the person filming the video looks like a staff. The public is questioning the hotel’s security and how can anyone enter the rooms, if not a staff.
Celebrities like Arjun Kapoor have also commented on the post, “This is the saddest part about every person having a camera on them today.” While actor Varun Dhawan called it “Horrible behaviour”. Many incidences of fans crossing the line and stalking celebrities have made rounds in the past, but breaking into a hotel room and filming the whole thing has to be a first and hopefully the last.
