Koffee With Karan Season 8 Episode 8 Review: A Dull Affair

Koffee With Karan Season 8 Episode 8 Review: In the new episode, Karan Johar invites Arjun Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur to the couch. They get candid about everything—career, love, and controversies. But is the episode exciting enough? Sadly, no. The new episode of the Disney+ Hotstar series is 43 minutes.

Karan Johar teases Aditya Roy Kapur about his dating rumours with Ananya Panday. Just like Ananya, Aditya refuses to confirm anything but gives away the secret indirectly. It’s confusing to see why the couple doesn’t want to confirm their dating rumours when all the pictures and videos of their romantic getaways are all over the internet.

KJo also asks Aditya about his career, the success of his web series, The Night Manager, and getting replaced by Kartik Aaryan in the Aashiqui movie franchise. Aditya seems to be unfazed by most of it but admits that there is always pressure and concern about what will happen, especially on Friday releases.

Just like last season, Karan Johar asks Arjun Kapoor about his love life, his relationship with Malaika Arora, and his career trajectory. Arjun candidly discusses his experiences with online trolling and the challenges he has faced in his career. But that’s something we’ve heard him speak about in the last season, too.

Several topics were discussed, ranging from online trolling to KJo, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh getting mired in unnecessary drama. But overall, the energy in the room was quite low. Karan focused more on his issues and his stories, which have been happening a lot. As much as I am a fan of the series, I wish KJo would let other people finish what they were talking about. The abrupt jumps from one topic to another are not letting one savour what’s happening on screen.

The lack of joy and excitement was visible even in the games. Instead of being enjoyable, both the actors and the host seemed confused and chaotic. The questions were not good. This isn’t the first time the quiz and rapid-fire questions were bland. It’s been happening quite a lot since the previous season.

I understand the need to tone down questions to not make everything about sex, as Karan is infamously known for doing so. But there should be some spark and thrill in them, especially during the rapid-fire round.

Koffee With Karan Season 8 Episode 8 Review: Final Thoughts

Overall, Koffee With Karan Season 8 Episode 8 might look like a hot package from the outside, but with Bollywood’s two sensational men sharing the couch, the overall viewing experience mellows down with every passing minute.

The episode is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
