House of the Dragon: Fans Share Somber Feelings After Series End

House of the Dragon marked its season finale last week with its tenth episode titled, ‘The Black Queen’. The last episode explores the emotional complexity Rhaenyra endures after hearing the Greens usurped the throne, Rhaenys’ change of heart, and the implications of Aemond and Luke’s encounter.

The show is a prequel to Game of Thrones and is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. It stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, Rhys Ifans and many others.

While HoTD episode 10 ended on a tragic note with Rhaenyra getting to know about her son’s death, which will ultimately start the domino effect of the Dance of the Dragons. While she has grieved many deaths but the last blow will prove to her, she knows nothing about grief, and completely changes her outlook on the world from now on.

The show had been a hit since its premiere and was soon renewed for a second season, while the first was ongoing. The fans rejoiced at the news but the show won’t be returning before 2024 and it’s hitting hard to viewers now, after the season end. Many have been expressing their sadness on the social media site about the ‘first Sunday without HoTD.’

The show’s official Twitter page also shared some of the stills, linking with the Game of Thrones characters and the legacy of King Viserys I. While many are looking for other shows to watch in the place of House of the Dragon, others are going back to the start of it all and recommend watching GoT, again.

There are many fan theories also going on about Luke Targaryen being alive since his body wasn’t shown and could come back in another season. Not sure if that’s possible since he ends up dying in the book as well, although his death in the book came during the time when the Blacks and the Greens were ready to war with one another. His cause of death isn’t clear but it was said to have been during fighting in the war, while the show made his cause of death very clear.
