Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7 Review- Iron Fist Ketil

Field Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7

This season has been compelling television, and no one can deny that. However, it is almost like the show wants you to feel as uncomfortable as possible in some episodes. This was one of those, where the show wasn’t scared of exploring the depth of topics like slavery and theft and where you got to see the absolute worst of humanity come out of corners you could never have imagined. We all knew it probably got this bad in those times, but like most uncomfortable things, we swept it off our minds to replace it with happier thoughts.

This topic is like beating a dead horse by this point, but I did not expect this show to go in this direction at all. Who could have thought that the show that featured one of the most compelling fight scenes in the year it came out would turn into a show about the ill effects of violence and Viking conquests in general and that it would remain almost just as compelling? Could you have predicted that the tensest moment of the season would be watching a boy get beat with a stick after you have already seen a hundred people being dismembered? On top of that, could you imagine this being better than the first season?

Ketil Patir Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7

Before this episode, I would have probably said that there was no possible way this could be as good as Season 1. I still have my doubts, but I don’t feel the same anymore. This definitely isn’t the same anime we were all watching three years ago, but it is no less than that, either. The storytelling might not be as grandiose and violent, but watching and taking the story in is still just as fun. Not only that, but you just know that the show can go much higher and cut much deeper than it already has and that we are building towards something spectacular.

This episode was all about the nature of slavery and how just one decent person could improve the lives of a hundred others. Don’t get me wrong, Ketil is nowhere near a man worthy of high praise. He participates in the practice of slave-owning and loan-sharking, which are both legitimate reasons to hate him. However, he is still not a bad guy and treats his slaves as well as possible without being labelled a “slave-lover” during those times. His conflict in Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7 was written beautifully and made him a somewhat sympathetic character despite his sometimes iffy actions.

We have somewhat run out of things to say before moving into spoiling a little of what happens in each episode, which I may have to do from the next episode. Who wants to hear “the animation was fantastic” for the fifth time, even though it deserves the accolade? I guess I could say that I love where Thorfinn is going as a character, and Einar helped him quite a lot in Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7. Both have a lot of chemistry and could form one of the best bonds in anime history if granted some more time.

Verdict

Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 7 was masterfully written, executed, and animated. It did a fantastic job of making an issue that is so important for some people look trivial for others with frightening precision.
